Ok I had a doctors appt today, I knew I had gained some weight since not smoking but shit!!! I can not believe how much.

My first clue should have been when I had to buy a size bigger jeans. What is worse for your health being fat or smoking???

I know I am not liking it.

Smoking is definitely worse @Linda! Its completely normal to put on extra weight the first year of quitting. Then add a pandemic to the mix and it makes it that much harder to keep the extra pounds off.

You'll get them off eventually but right now just focus on that awesome quit of yours 🤗

@jillar I'm sure smoking is worse, but I came very close to saying screw it I'm going to smoke today!!!

well being a fat smoker would've really ruined your day-

Weight gain is natural as your body adjusts to not being constantly poisoned.

Relax- enjoy the process and use this as motivation to get 20 minutes of walking in per day

Im sure you wear it well anyways so there's always that too <wink>

I thank God for the people that invented elastic and the new stretchy material for jeans.  I heard the most important piece in a woman's wardrobe are yoga pants. I will stick with these things for the time being. LOL

Ok the last two days I started walking with my dog, I have to get my bike tires fixed so

I can start riding that and I think I'm going start dieting a bit with no junk food.

I can not fit into anything I wore last summer!!! So ill be spending my money I have saved

on not smoking on clothes if I don't do something!  Lol Not liking being a fat non smoker

Cut yourself some slack. I started exercising as soon as I quit, so I wouldn’t gain weight. I am already a bit overweight, so was really motivated. I ended up losing 10 pounds, but am sure I gained it all back, while on vacation. I am looking forward to getting back to my routine, after I arrive home, in a few days. 20 to 30 min. of cardio, daily, does wonders.

@Katgirl I have to do something I went up  two sizes, from size 4 to an 8.

I'm not liking it. Lol

If you gained weight and are now  a size 8, I expect you look great. Relax. 😀

Weight gain is part of the game.  When I quit I gained about 30lbs.  My doctor was not too worried about it and let me know that quitting at the time was more important.  After the first year of my quit I worked on losing the weight slowly and have lost that 30lbs and now working on another 10-15.  Walking is the trick, right when I quit it was hard to do a 1/2 mile per day and now I am doing at least 1 1/2 miles and at least once a week I do 2 miles a day.  I also take several small walks during the day.  But in the long run quitting is the most important thing you can do for your health -- Keep up the good work!!!

Your weight will stable Linda ....

Around my year mark ....I started to put more effort into losing those extra pounds than my quit ..

This is why we say Quitting is a journey ....

Your still at the stage where your quit is more important .... concentrate on this for now ....

Just try and snack on healthy things ...and yes walking ....

I am still at it. 30 minutes of pretty intense cardio training daily, and now I am focusing on my diet, too. Down 5 pounds in last 10 days. I am determined to improve my health and well-being.

I believe we were talking about different cardio exercise Kat.

Oh! Sometimes I miss the Forrest for the trees. Funny, I missed this,  though, as my mind is usually in the gutter….😊
