February 20, 20215 yr Have been having a hard day today, have a good friend in hospice with stage 4 lung cancer that has metastasized to his brain and he was a smoker. You would think that would be a definite reason to stop smoking, which I am doing but right this moment I would like a cigarette. CRAZY how powerful the addiction is.
February 20, 20215 yr It is crazy and sucks! I'm sorry about your friend 😢 Remember if you keep your mind busy with other things it'll help. And use your air cig or suck on a lollipop to keep your hands and mouth busy
February 20, 20215 yr It's human nature to deny, deny, deny. We're special somehow and it won't happen to us, only other people. Well, clearly that's not the case yet that invincible thought process seems to stay with us. It is crazy! Sorry to hear your friend is in the situation he's in but I'm sure he's pleased you got the message and are doing something to try and limit you own ongoing exposure.

It is the addiction. I actually smoked while I was doing radiation for breast cancer. Can we say I was killing myself while trying to save myself! I am so sorry about your friend. February 21, 20215 yr @Linda I too am sorry to hear about your friend. My mother died of the same type of cancer. That was about 12 yrs. ago. My sister and I stayed with her for the last few days and nights of her life. Our father ask us to stay with her. He was in so much mental pain that he didn't want to be with her by himself. It was awful. There's no better way to say it. She was also a lifetime smoker. This addiction is so strong, that we are able to live through times like this and keep right on puffing. This is what non- smokers don't understand about nicotine addiction. I pray that your friend passes as easy as possible!
