Mona is 1 Month Smoke Free

Featured Replies

Congratulations Mona on being 1 month smoke free.

Well done Mona for being 1 month smoke free. That's the worst month over with. So don't forget rewards are important to the whole re-wiring the brain program so make sure you do something special for yourself to celebrate your first month quitaversary.

Quit date we have for you is 29th Jan is this not true?

Maybe now is the time to make it true?

No, 01/29 is not true.  Neither is 02/01, 02/05, 02/08, 02/09, 02/13, 02/17, 02/19, nor 02/23.  Oh yes, I have been a busy little quitter.  I drew a line in the sand at end of February.  And in true addict fashion, I waited until the last possible day.  My quit day was yesterday, 02/28.  I am now a little over halfway through day 1.

Did you make a note on what didn't work those last times, so you could avoid those pitfalls?

I would need a very big notebook because nothing seems to be working this time around.

You know what Mona...having a quit buddy really helps. You and Lilly have both started knew quits on the same day....you both have a shared, bumpy, quit history (I'm not saying that to be facetious)....you would make great quit buddies, quit twins even...having someone share the journey with you is such a great support.

No offense taken, notsmokinjo.  I think being quit buddies is a good idea for some people.  I don't think it would work for me though.  I would feel like extra pressure was being put on me and that would mess with my head.

I'll be back once I have 3 days under my belt.

You should reconsider this Mona. Having a quit buddy is supportive, not a competition that intimidates you and as Jo said, yous is virtually a mirror image to Lilly's quit journey. It might be just what both of you need to make it through the challenging early days :)

Hi Mona....

I too believe this might be just the right thing for you and Lily.....you seem to be in and out of here together ...which is great ...if you have made a friendship....

It couldn't hurt to try ,and do this together as a team..what have you got to lose ..nothing ....but it could work ..its something different for the two of you ...

I also think instead is staying away till after day 3 ...come and post here often ...I was here 24/7.....

Do things different this time ..it just may be your and lily,s sticky quit ...

I am more than happy to cheer someone one on, Doreen.  That is what this site is for after all.  I just don't care to be labelled as a twosome.  Also, I am capable of a sticky quit.  Prior to my relapse, I was quit for two years.  It's a real shame that I recklessly threw it away because I was really loving being a nonsmoker.  My problem is getting through the first few days.  I very much dislike discomfort and am very self-indulgent, maybe a little spoiled too.  If nothing else, this relapse has taught me a very valuable lesson, not even one little puff is safe!

p.s.  During my first few days, it will be best for me to stay away from people because I will be cranky and emotional.  I certainly would not want to upset another new quitter.
