They're not Golden or Trip Top but yeah mate there the real deal. They will work. You still need to toast then before you eat them. I usually have to drop the toaster 2 times to toast them enough. Then butter them while hot and pop ya s off poached bum nuts on top. Surely, somewhere near you sells vegemite. Be brave, just don't spread it super thick, it's like chillies you have to build up your tolerance. Try one with honey too....not with the egg, just butter/marg and honey.

Oh, I see what you did there, Boo and Cash needed to rectify the gender balance, the boys are in the majority again, with a spare.
-
And they are delicious! Savory or sweet. You can even have em with penisbutter. I'm usually have them with vegemite, it melts into the holes. Don't mind em with golden syrup either, or honey. @Mona did you like them?

@Mac#23 crumpets and English muffins are you 100% not comparable. If you can buy crumpets I'm cool with that. There are a tonne of recipes online for crumpets that might suit you better. They be Aussie or Brit so the ingredients might be called something else. The recipe I put in is very similar to what I remember my great aunty pat making. I'll be doing biscuits and gravy this weekend. So @Cbdave who is now the sausage guru, do you reckon I should use some sausage mince dressed up with sage?
-
It is so hard to do an iconic Aussie breaky without vegemite....but I'll give you a recipe for crumpets...then you can make the breakkie @Cbdave suggested: https://www.recipetineats.com/crumpet-recipe/ When you get to the bit about how you to eat them, you still need to toast then as described, you then need to butter them and top with a soft poached egg, letting the yoke seep into the holes. Crack of pepper and salt then ya done. If that's too tricky, toast some sour dough, smash some avocado on it and top with poached egg.
-
So what if I do an I see your biscuit and raise you biscuit and you have to make the most Aussie biscuit of all...????.... cos to make an iconic Aussie breaky ya have to do vegemite.
-
Yeah nah hot dogs are different...texture, 'meat....Um do you have Italian/continentsl sausages? Wot do your sausages look like?
-
1. Wondering if Boo got a mini ass. 2. Trying to frickin pick something f or Mac to make for Breckie
-
Um are sausages the same in Aus as US??? Sausage: @Doreensfree ... you've been down here, is there something we do for Breckie that's particularly Aussie? I was thinking big breakkie ??
-
@Cbdave how the he'll is the poor bugger supposed to find crumpets in the USA. Alright let's start with breakfast.
-
Hmmm....need some direction here Mr America...I'm thinking... A desert A soup A main Yeah, nah, maybe kinda sorta... Maybe a chicken dish, we both have that readily available.
-
Scouse is yummo. I make this in winter.
-
Did anyone else just imagine a little miss in a tutu and gumboots off to get her eggs with a basket....wait, nope, backpeddle...no chooks n eggs for Maddie...Boo had a copperhead or something slithery like that in his yard and they like chook pens.
-
See.... so this challenge might go over a few weeks. I'm going the through me list of Aussie food...it's not all gunna be readily available overseas....fark, mighta bit off more than I can chew here. At the moment everything I think of is dessert or soup or salad... or kiddy party food. Hmmmm. Anything you won't eat @Mac#23???
-
We have pen1s butter, vaginamite is just better. Do you ever kid your peanut butter with honey? (Don't have a peanut butter brand named Skippy..Skippy is act show kangaroo)
-
Wot you talkin bout Willis, isn't Skippy a kangaroo?
-
I think we, the cooks, could also have points...I mean if we just leave it up to a vote all the Brits will vote for the Scots and all the yanks will vote for Mac and well little old me will just have Dave...that's too biased a system....cos well national pride. Lol... Public vote could be a part of it....Then we could have a point system.....look, smell, taste, would you eat again, ..... so maybe 3, 3, 3, & 1....so a p possible 10 points for each.
-
So...will need to remember that things that are not too expensive here and really common, maybe not so up north. Hmmm....rules out most native ingredients for me....might take lamb off the table too. Do we have 3 categories...1...4....???? Breakfast Snack/sandwich Biscuit ....So for me that would be a "cookie" for Mac that would be some wierd looking mutant scone. Main Meal...so meat and veg type th ikng, pasta..etc Dessert Kids party food....seriously though we better not have this, I mean it's a given that I'll win...Aussies kick arse at kid party food, it's just a fact. Soup.
-
No roo, what's wrong with eating skippy?
-
So Team USA ... will be Mac, with @Jillar in the corner with a bucket and towel. Team Scotland ... If they front ...will be Weegie, with Fluffy....just remember we won't have porridge draws. Oright, @Cbdave you got me back mate?
-
Vegemite would probs be out as an ingredient, cos it's kinda hard to get where you are isn't it?
-
@Mac#23 is trying to convince me biscuits should be served with gravy. Lumpy white gravy that looks not too pleasant. Now the first issue language biscuits are what Mac calls cookies. But a friendly bit of food sledging later I had a cunning plan....why don't we swap recipes and make each other's stuff...then taste it and rate it. Then I thought that @WeegieWoman is a keen little cook...she'll might be in on this...that would give us a tri nation tournament for our cup. Australia v US v Scotland....we could invite Reci, but really what does he have to offer maple syrup and poutine. Step one...convince Weegie and Mac to play. Step b....set the rules of engagement...inc scoring system. Step iii.... select recipes...might wanna consult with your compatriots for that. Step next....make sure the others can get the ingredients in their countries. Step e.... set the date, make & rate.
-
Do you think I would deliberately suggest something unpleasant?
-
^ You know you don't right. Ok if I think of an Aussie dish (with ingredients you can get easily) do you wanna cook each other's stuff and taste and compare? Edit : (^ for @Mac#23 and @WeegieWoman.. cos @jillar has already told us she can't cook for sh1t....we could have a whole tread about ... the Try Nation Cup....so you won't get what I did there, it's a rugby think.)
