  9. Welcome aboard Kitano, glad that you haven taken the leap of faith and decided to quit -- stick with it and the rewards will come 10 fold. Come here often for education and some fun. Like I have said to others before --- drink plenty of cold water, learn deep breathing techniques and it does not hurt to pledge NOPE daily, it really can help!!!!

  13. Welcome aboard Jack. I too am 65, I quit almost a year ago. It was a tough first couple of weeks then it got better. I too have early stages of COPD and the one thing you will notice is that quitting WILL help your breathing (you won't be cured but it will get somewhat better) and will slow down any progression -- just being honest. I can state that what will help is read as much as you can on this site -- the education and experience of others will be a great help. For the early days learn deep breathing techniques and drink plenty of cold water. Also going to the NOPE section and pledging NOPE (Not One Puff Ever) daily will truly help, I thought it kind of corny the first day but has truly helped me throughout this last year. Come here often to read and learn and get to know others -- we don't bite but it can get a little weird. Again Welcome!!!!
  14. Well Congrats Kate, celebrate any moment on this journey. Don't beat yourself up about food now, focus on not smoking. Your doing well and have the right attitude!!!!

  21. Again congrats on the 1 year mark Oldy you deserve to pat yourself on the back.
  22. Hey Oldy first of all congrats on the 1 year quit and there should be your motivation. Having a smoke now may only make things worse. I am so sorry you are going thru this all now especially with the season and everything and it is a tough go. As said above spend the time with family and friends if possible and try and remember the positive -- it is hard but smoking will only make it harder at this time.
  23. NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Lia welcome aboard, I am happy to see that you are planning to quit. The best advice I can give right now is to thoroughly go thru this site and read everything you can prior to Jan. the 1st, this way you can build up your resolve and educate yourself. Also go thru some of the posts that we all have been part of -- again a lot to gleam there. Once you quit, lots of cold water to drink and deep breathing techniques then go to the daily NOPE pledge and post everyday -- it really helps. Just remember we will be here for you!!!
