  1. Thanks Joel. Your contribution to helping people end this terrible disease is wonderful. Thanks for all you do.
  2. I never realized how much time I wasted smoking. I think what is the worse, we smoked in the garage. Which *was* my favorite room in the house.(all my stuff is out there) Its now my least favorite room in the house. Huge trigger for me to go out there so I dont. I don't even enter the house through the garage anymore. I use the front door, more like a normal person.. lol.. I also drive for a living, another tough one. Music helps with that. Luckily we never smoked in the house else I'd really be screwed. Do you notice that you're breathing better? I think that's the most significant thing for me so far. But for some reason, I cant stop clearing my throat, weird.. This forum is a big help for me. One day at a time!
  3. I too noticed that too. Not sure about you buy I'm a huge routine freak so by not smoking isn't the only thing that changed in my life. It blows me away how much of my daily life revolved around that next cigarette. Lets keep it going..
  4. Still nope. Having a much better day today than yesterday, so far..
  5. Hi Jerry. A lot of good support here. A lot of good folks with only one priority, quitting. Keep up the good work. Something that works for me, I repeat this to myself several times a day. They have nothing to offer us. They take away our time, money and health.
  6. I long for three months no smoke LOL. One of the biggest things to keep me from relapse is throwing away the time I have. And l only have six days LOL( in my seventh day today). I couldn’t imagine being tempted to throw away three months. I’m glad you’re feeling better today. They do nothing for us. They take our money, our time and our health. They have nothing to offer.
  7. Getting punched in the right cheek didn't work for 6 days, so the monster goes for the left. Now I have to get used to that cheek being smacked! Oh the craziness!
  8. I keep telling myself its just my mind playing tricks on me. I literally cant stand it. My entire body is a chill bump. I feel like I need something. Something. Think I'll go for a quick walk before I slip into panic mode. Walks help with my anxiety. If that doesn't help I'll shower. I cant smoke in the shower.
  9. Some good moments, some bad. Keep on keepin on.. Helping you helps me(rough day). What you're doing takes huge courage.
  10. christine 12, how are you!! A lot of people are trying to hear from you.
  11. Still nope. They do absolutely nothing for me except rob me of my time, money and health.

    5 days!

Right.. I seem to vacuum a lot more. (wife got me a killer vacuum cleaner for Christmas)
  13. Someone else's money is always good, hehe
  14. I hope its ok to post more than once.. Still, nope!
  15. My dad did the same thing. My mom smoked for years after he quit. If he can, I can too. She finally quit when she had a heart attack. She quit on something/someone else's terms. He quit on his own terms. I want to quit on my terms. NOt because I have a plethora of tubes in my chest. Again, congrats!
  16. Thanks! You're coming up on a year!! Now that's HUGE. Congrats to you!! I want that!! I could see where a quit date would be much more significant than a birthday. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. It truly does help.
  17. I can definitely see where alcohol could play a huge role in relapse. I don't drink much but when I do I smoked excessively. I simply have no inhibitions at all when drinking. The difference in Alcohol and Cannabis is a subject for another thread, lol.. I actually have a lot going against me, but none of it is a reason to smoke.. Odds are though, everyone feels the same way.. I have to keep my ass out of the garage all together. I notice that early on. Which is tough, its where I spent most of my time. We didn't smoke in the house so that's a help. I also never smoked while walking the dog, so I do that more often. I have enough triggers in my daily routine that cant be avoided so smoking Cannabis, the actual plant, in the garage is a big nono, One of my avoidable triggers. Yeah, I said "we". My wife smokes.. But that's ok, her choice and I'm not going to let it stop me.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
