  1. Hey Pixel, man i am really with you on that one. Anything to get that metabolism running faster... then you don't gain weight and you also slow down aging and speed up repair... of course when you are young that is not a big issue most of the time but if you did lot's of damage to your body smoking like i . did... then well i am trudging along ok with my bad ankle and can go for walks and still ride my exercise bike i notched up a big step, you can see the small differences if you stick with it... it is never to late to get into better shape.. and it's great for your moods, sleep, anxiety and an other issues sometimes i think what people who quit smoking need is free boot camp
  2. Oh, your getting so close to 2 months Pixel. How was the bleaching?
  3. renting through airbnb can offer more protections because they have clear policies and can enforce and also because hosts get to also rate visitors so you can read what other hosts have written before renting to anyone.
  4. I would put a big sign that there is a 500 cleaning fee for smoking indoors. that is what the hotels do here. and have them check when they confirm their purchase that they accept the fee should they violate the no smoking rules. it is a cultural thing, too.
  5. Having quit buddies is awesome. I have one and we were both still quit as of last week.
  6. I'll ask my son if he likes it too... Somehow a cigarette doesn't fit into that beautiful pristine picture.
  7. I was planning to post here, but before getting access I had to check a box that says I have understood my rights and responsbilities, or something to that effect... for instance not to post anything here whose copyright does not belong to me.. that is clear enough but do I own the copyright of all the material i post here? what does that entail. Do I have the right to store a copy only, or do I have the right to post it elsewhere as well. also what does it mean to 'add a block' All advise, comments and constructive remarks are welcome. I am looking for advise.
  8. how about miss out on life to go off and smoke, to hide away as a 'secret smoker' what a joke. and to get those looks from people who cared. well one thing i really love is how i don't smell like a smoker no more!
  9. ok, so its either comfort food of a small piece of health food store chocolate cake or a 'nourish bowl' with brocooli cabbage bron rice, carrots kohlrabi and snap peas with sesame sriracha sauce and 310 calories... about the same in terms of calories and I can have both! haha
  10. i am a little bit confused as to where i cross the rules so if it seems stiff and awkward it is.
  11. so Grace who is Devil Doll? And what is your opinion of Sarge! Hahahahah lol . i can say that my life improved greatly once i abandoned ship for this site. yesterday we had snow in may and a friend pretty much acted like the self-absorbed narcissist that she truly is, and today i got three calls from godaddy starting at 7:50 this morning to confirm my identity. i guess they know who i am now.
  12. I invite everyone to visit my profile, including Sarge.
  13. Hey Sarge! Life is simple except when it is not! Haha i had no idea this site existed till a few days ago.
  14. Not waking up in the morning with the first thought, just as my eyes popped open, "I wanna cig"... that took a few weeks... but I do love raspberries! or just the taste of fresh, good food,
  15. Good for you Babs. Life gets back to normal. Some of us are never truly free of intrusions of the nicotine addiction. But we are free of the chains of addiction
  16. I agree with cristobal. Drain the energy. It won't return as strong as before. And remember also all those blissful times yiu are free from craving or any thought of smoking. That is freedom from the day in and day out chain of nicotine addiction.
  17. wonderful. you have to reprogram all your thoughts and associations on smoking. it is a little bit like knocking offf one pit of rock at a time or many with a chisel. we have to 'resculpt our brains'. you are making the right choices! keep going. stand tall. be proud of your accomplishment each day. i . mean give yourself a little celebration every single day. that you are a quitter and not a smoker... make a little ritual, a little space, to start to fill in all that space that smoking had in your life.
  18. I'll just add that the problems, whatever they are, in breathing after quitting do in no way compare to the problems of breathing down the line, or just around the corner for some, in continuing to smoke.
  19. Fear is the biggest obstacle in quitting. You . have much more to be afraid of that what you fear right now if you were to return ever, even for one puff, to smoking. You are an addict. As am I. We are both triggered for smoking these days. That is just life. You can deal with it. Find somethign else do to besides smoke! I mean smoking took up about 1.5-2 hours a day of my life. I'm not joking. Like add up all the time it takes you to smoke. And then do something esle to focus yourself for 1.5-2 hours a day and you will be fine! Trust me.
  20. I also often switched to Lights, Marl. Lights, thinking they were safer. You weren't silly, johnny5. We were both conned like a lot of other people by the cigarette makers into this lie. It turns out people just mostly inhaled deeper to get their fix. There was nothing safe about those cigarettes even though they measured lower on tar and nicotine when connected to a smoking machine... Apparently it is now illegal to use terms like "light", "low tar" and "mild" on packaging in many countries. Insane costs to the addicts, the users. Yep... Insane profits for many other people who profited. I remember that testimony before Congress when all the CEOs of the major tobacco companies each testified under oath that they didn't believe cigarettes were addictive.
  21. I was also a Marl. Red smoker. They were $14.50 CAN when I quit. Now I can get massages and physio and a gym membership for that money to help recover from all the damage from smoking. Best part is not waking up in the middle of the night or early morning because of nicotine withdrawal and going outside into the garage for my feeding, or worse realizing I had run out of smokes and driving up to the corner store at 3 am to buy 2 packs. It looks so pathetic in retrospect. I'd give my smokes away if someone asked. Now when I see a smoker sometimes I feel this tug (not acted upon) to go up and talk to them and tell them that it is possible for anyone to quit...

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
