  1. Crying, here. So sad.
  2. Paul, I can't "quote" on the computer I am using, but the Summer 2013 Quitters are just under 50%. Edited to add: It is important to remember that I did not begin tracking the Summer 2013 quitters until October, so everyone was at least two months, already...
  3. Oh, Lace, I am so happy for you!! Six months is awesome, and so are you!!
  4. I understand keeping Chantix around as a safety net. I got a refill of my prescription after the initial 90 days, because I told myself I would take a pill before I smoked. My logical brain realized that one pill would do virtually nothing, but it made me feel safer in my quit. However, I think if someone has been quit for some weeks or months, that popping on a patch or chewing nicotine gum is only going to make matters worse, because the physical addiction is done. I say this based on the law of addiction: Administration of a drug to an addict will cause reestablishment of chemical dependence upon the addictive substance." Now, is it better to do that than light a cigarette? Yes, but why awaken the addiction?
  5. My only point is that there is not nicotine, so it is not classified as NRT.
  6. Chantix is not classified as NRT, in my understanding, because there is no nicotine.

  15. 1. I get to stay at table when we go out with friends or family 2. My car, hair, clothes do not stink 3. My dentist is delighted 4. Lots more time and energy to get things done!
  16. I am so grateful you made the right decision, dear friend!
  17. I would also like to say mine was something noble, but the truth is, I was sick and tired of the hassle. I went outside at home and work to smoke(hot, cold, wet, whatever, I went). You can't smoke in any public places, so again, outside with me, missing conversations with friends and family. Disparaging glances from others as they pass by. Worrying about how long a meeting or flight would be so I could get my fix. The thing that pushed me over the edge was that I got a brand new car. I hadn't had a new car in 12 years. It is so beautiful, and I just didn't want to stink it up or burn holes in it. So, one more place not to smoke! That was when I decided to hell with it, I'm quitting!
  18. Sharon, I am exactly opposite. I never changed...I was afraid if I gave up my wine at the same time, I would feel too deprived, and would smoke!
  19. It sounds very nice, except for the aggravation of torn tights and stockings! That could get expensive very quickly!!
  20. So very sorry about your mother in law. You are doing great, and as others have commented, having a plan is key. Have a wonderful time and you can tell us about your victory on Sunday!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
