  3. Welcome NoMore! We're happy to have you as part of our family of quitters Please read all the stuff you can here, particularly the "pinned" posts at the top of the page. Understanding this addiction is really important. You mentioned about the stressful event that caused you to relapse? We believe that smoking will reduce stress from life events but in reality, smoking just reduces your anxiety that comes from needing to feed the addiction of smoking. Your life events are still there whether stressful or not. Smoking does nothing to fix those issues. Get rid of the anxiety you create for yourself by smoking and needing to feed that addiction every hour or so and you'll be that much further ahead. Hang around and let us support you on your journey to freedom!

  5. No Hate - I just wish I had never started then had to quit. I can relate to the "life changing status" of quitting though, absolutely. It is something that is very hard to do and so something to be very proud of having accomplished! No question about that

  7. Sorry, can't help with that. Don't recall reading that post (if it was here on this site?). I personally wish I had never smoked so I wouldn't have had to quit. Quitting wasn't a pleasant experience in particular for me. Nothing to want to experience again, that's for sure. The plus in that is, it keeps me vigilant in not losing the quit I have been able to build to this point - don't want to travel the quit path again thank you very much!!

  11. 6 months smoke free is a great milestone Missdixie!! 1/2 year quit now. Take pride in this accomplishment. Treat yourself to something special for this amazing accomplishment!

  15. Yeah - I know! Lived in Cali for a year when I was much younger and when I was in a T-shirt, they were wearing coats We do get some "fringe benefits" tho!
  16. I think your issue is pretty common. I have always been as skinny as a rail but, after a month or two of quitting I began showing a pretty noticeable pot belly and experiencing a bloated feeling most days. That has gone on for a while but it recently rectified it's self quite suddenly I'm joking of course but, my point is that your metabolism will change once you stop smoking and weight gain and/or bloating may become an issue. Like all the other quit symptoms, this too will adjust as your body adjusts to life without smoking. You can speed the process up by adjusting your diet and/or exercise routine.
  17. I look at this in a different light then when I was first quitting. I was using patches first 2 days then showered on the 3rd day and forgot to put on a new patch. Wasn't much different after a couple of hours so I decided to not put on another patch. I went CT from there on because it just made sense to me that I should just get it all done ASAP and it has worked out very well. It seems to me that a lot of people are looking for a short cut (myself included). Some magical pill or potion to avoid the early quit symptoms. I now see those early quit symptoms as as dues payable for all those years of abuse. Once paid .... freedom awaits

  20. Reluctantly YES! I say reluctantly because of all the years of being responsible for putting up outdoor decorations etc. Sometimes in VERY adverse weather conditions NP like Home Made Pizza more than take out.
