  1. Hang in through these unexciting days of your quit because the motivation to carry on largely needs to come from within YOU. You say a couple of folks around you fell back to smoking? Did you speak to them about it? Just wondering what their thoughts on it might be. On these forums I have only heard how devastated and disappointed people felt after relapsing. I suppose if you speak to someone in person about it they might wish to downplay the fact that they chose to fail at something like this - but know this ..... YOU have made the right choice to continue your almost 3 month quit. I promise you that you would not be happier if you started smoking again and threw away all the hard work you have done to get to this point. Think about how you admired those people with 3 months quit during your first week or so of your own quit. Well, NOW that's you!! You have come that far ...... there's no turning back now Oh and ..... I'm one of the cool-kids from the Lido Deck so I know a little something about the challenges of getting there. Just sayin'
  2. Good for you Marie! Stay smoke free no matter what. You CAN do this Post often as you can. It really does help. Hope the college visit is a success!

  7. Should I be nervous?? J.K. Opah. You're doing great!! Enjoy your hunt
  8. That's fantastic Marie It sounds like you will be traveling so just try to check back in with us when you can and let us know how things are going. Remember, you can vent, cry, curse and scream all you want here. We understand because we've all been there. Try deep breathing exercises when you feel the anxiety building. That will also help distract your mind from cravings. Keep in touch please. We can help you along.

  19. I don't deal with high anxiety or panic attack issues so I can not give you any advice in that regard but I have read posts from others on this board who do suffer from these issues and have managed to quit for long periods of time and virtually all have said the same thing. Their level of anxiety after they had quit was much lower than when they smoked. Anxiety created because of smoking is just that .... it's because of your addiction to nicotine. It's a never ending cycle that starts up again the minute you put out that cigarette. That smoking anxiety just gets added on top of whatever other anxiety issues one might have. This smoking thing only makes everything else worse in our lives. Do whatever you need to and get this out of your life. It will be the best thing you have ever done

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
