  1. I don't know exactly when but if you commit then it will get better. Believe us when we tell you. Yes, you are gonna have many days that suck but they lead to days that don't. I was a lot better before a year but I still had seasonal triggers until after I hit one year and I'm proud to say that I am now a little under 15 months free and don't think about it other than in passing. I even just had a major crisis and it didn't cross my mind. Be patience. It will come.
  2. There was a sign posted on Krogers ( grocery store) entrance that said cigarette tax is getting ready to increase 35 cents a pack or$3.50 a carton. Just another reason to be glad we quit.
  3. half way between Dayton and Lima
  4. Could the sweat allergy possibly be caused by something in your diet? You could always try an elimination diet or go to a specialist and ask for tests. I wish I could help more as I know how miserable it can be. Have you tried steroids? I've heard they help but I have no experience with them.
  5. I have always had a dry scalp but after I quit developed patches of what looked like cradle cap and it took many different shampoos to find one that worked. I don't know if its still there because I still use the shampoo just because it itched so bad that I dug my head raw and I don't want that again. My husbands allergies got worse after quitting and he tried all kinds of meds until he found one that works...for now. But it doesn't completely take away every symptom. I told him time and time again to go to the doctor but he wont so I'm like whatever, suffer if you want to be stubborn. He quit last November so I assume they are permanent but who knows. Everyone is different though. Are your temporary methods working and are they easier or harder that permanent methods? If the temporary methods work and aren't too much trouble, I say stick with those for now and if something changes try the other routes.
  6. Tracey, I am so sorry. No words can ease the pain. Please take care.
  7. I've really been slacking when it comes to congratulating everyone so I will send out a mass congrats to everyone. I am so proud of all the members.
  8. I keep forgetting my smoke free anniversary. Forgetting is one of the best signs that smoking is no longer part of us. Newbies, it does get better!!!
  9. says the misspelled breakfast meat...
  10. Exactly what marti said. And just because I had a rough time doesn't mean you will too. Every quit is different. Also it may worry you that you could still struggle later in your quit but knowing that it's a possibility can prepare you for anything and also leaving you knowing its normal to feel that way. I would rather know it's normal anytime in a quit than be blind sided and think something's wrong with me.
  11. No. I wasn't partying. I don't do that anymore. Lol I was leaving a store and someone was smoking outside. I should be over that by now since I'm around smokers without a problem any other time.
  12. Ok. Thanks for all the replies. It's a relief knowing it's not usual to still experience this later in a quit. It's sucks but it's normal. Ok. Now to answer my questions. I think it's happening now because it's almost summer and it's a new season and I'm worried about doing all the summer stuff without smoking. I quit in the summer but it was later summer and last year was all new and a fight but I'm more relaxed this year and haven't experienced this season without smoking. Plus I'm remembering all the stuff I did in summers past and it has always included smoking. So in short, I'm worried about how I'm gonna handle it.
  13. I am going on 10 months quit and up until recently I was doing great. I would occasionally have a thought about smoking but nothing major but this last month, since around 9 months quit, its been rough. Yesterday was really, REALLY bad. It felt similar to the beginning of my quit. I smelled someone smoking and had to show great restraint to not go ask them for a cigarette. This has lasted through today so far too. I've spent a good part of the last 2 days rereading everything and staying busy. Here's my question. Why now? Why after 10 months? And has anyone else experienced this later in their quit? I think I know the answer to all the questions but I want opinions from others.
  14. Not at all! The time has flown by. I sometimes forget its my quit anniversary and how many months it's been.
  15. If we only knew then what we know now... Sorry to both of you. May I ask how long after he was diagnosed did he continue to smoke?
  16. Not your fb friend but pm me for my name if you want to be..
  17. I like to wear my bras too small. It pushes the girls up higher and makes em look bigger. :lol2:
  18. Think of all the bad things cigs cause. I also remembered a bad moment with cigarettes and replayed that over and over in my head when I started to crave or romance. I don't have to list the bad things about cigarettes, you already know those things but the bad moment I replay is when I smoked too many cigarettes and felt horrible. I hated that feeling and it helps to remember that.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
