  1. I can't wait either Sharon... I've missed you! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hi Rowley, 60 days can be a tough time, but I promise that it gets better, and soon! Whenever I was having a bad day I always told myself that 'tomorrow will be better', and I'm gonna tell you the same thing - tomorrow will be better! So hang in there!
  3. Jen, day 16 was really hard for me. That was the day that I had to reach out and I found these wonderful people online - the third week of my quit was probably the single hardest period of time I had to go through, but I promise that it got better after that! I know life sucks sometimes, but honestly, if you can get though it smoke free (which you will), you will be so much better off because of it! I'm sorry that you are having a hard time with your mum, but she's probably just jealous that you were able to quit smoking. Hopefully you are feeling a little better after a chat with Chrys and Nancy :d
  4. Have fun Evelyn - please tell is what it's like :)
  5. Trust you mammy :)
  6. Thanks MQ. I was quite a sporadic smoker, but on average it would have been 100 per week, so 14 per day.

  10. Still sounds like progress! Congratulations Mrs Sarge!
  11. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Beth!
  12. Like you Colleen, I'm celebrating my second. And it is looking like it will be a lot easier than the first ;)
  13. When I used to play golf with my buddies, I would put my cigarette on the floor while I took my swing, then pick it up and finish the disgusting thing off... Used to have at least one smoke per hole... Wowsers, that's a lot of smokes, and a lot of germs from the grass/sand/path wherever I put it down :(
  14. Wish I was coming with. Have a great time!

  16. I agree with you all and, looking back, it is ridiculous! How can a fear of failure stop me from even trying?! But it did, so many times... I was also afraid of being bored - smoking stopped me being bored (yeah, right). I also thought that smoking helped control my stress levels (again, lol at that). So I think that once I figured out that these were all lies that I was telling myself, to enable me to carry on smoking without feeling guilty (how can I feel guilty, I'm an ADDICT?), that was a real turning point. To keep quit, I always took it a day at a time. And I took strength from others that had quits similar or longer than me - I looked up to them. But I also took strength (and this is horrible to say) from people who relapsed - I saws people who had been quit longer than I had, giving in and smoking. And I saw these same people fail again, and again... I saw how difficult it was for people to quit again after a relapse, and I was not going to be that person, no way! This place and my friends gave me the strength to keep the quit in times of need, and I hope to repay the favour whenever necessary.

  20. I was wondering... Now that there are QT Tickers, is there some kind of underlying database that can be mined for no-smo data as a community? I thought it would be pretty cool for guests, newbies, potential newbies, and us oldies too, to be able to see how well we are doing as a community, how successful we are... for example, there could be a QT Community Ticker on the main page or something which showed: Number of members included (signed up for the QT Ticker) Total amount of cigarettes not smoked Amount of money saved (maybe show a $ equivalent or something) Total amount of time combined that the community has not been smoking for... Don't know about you, but I think it would be pretty cool to watch us break the 100,000 cigarettes not smoked (or however many we would be at), and watch those milestones grow, as we grow ourselves. We are all in the together, after all :) Maybe it is too difficult to do, but I thought it might be fun, and also show everyone how far we have come together :) What do you think?!
  21. Senseo Coffee is good :)
