  12. @Pilgrim, something that helped me maintain my strength of committment to quit was trying to identify and stay focused on the positives I started to notice after i quit. My mind was so busy focusing on all the negative quit symptoms I was experiencing in those early quit days and of course that came naturally so I had to purposely focus on the small positives I noticed. To me that was the reward being dangled in front of me that kept me going even though I wanted to just give up at times.

  13. Good job, Pilgrim! I have read your history and quitting, relapsing etc. is no life. Know that how you feel early in your quit is not how you feel forever. It will get much better as long as you keep nicotine outside your body.

  20. Very good point Reciprocity! It helped me to keep a diary and read it every so often to see the improvements. Some are small and only noticed looking backwards. I was so happy with my warm feet and that helped with my commitment as I did not want to suffer from that ever again now winter was coming. I quit 2 november.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
