Hi Pilgrim - glad you are back. I, too, was a serial quitter, so I can definitely relate. My biggest suggestion is to come here and stay here. Everyone here understands exactly what you are going through. And everyone is so willing to pick you up when you are about to fall. I had folks stay with me on the SOS thread until I felt strong and confident. I was actually on a different message board that unfortunately crashed and burned and luckily the Quit Train welcomed me. So I can't go back and look at my old posts, but trust me, I was a mess! Posting helps, the good, the bad. and the ugly. My mantra was Smoking Is Not An Option...NO MATTER WHAT. It was a powerful tool for me. As was deep breathing. The strength is in you, keep pulling it up. KTQ (edit to say - your cat is beautiful!!!)

Welcome back @Pilgrim! We had actually just posted a celebratory message to you thinking you were now 3 months smoke free. In any case, I'm glad you're back for another start at finding YOUR freedom! You know the drill ... NOPE! (Not One Puff Ever). One day at a time will get you to your destination. Cat's & boxes😆

Greetings everyone! Some may remember me from months ago. I'm the guy who's quit and relapsed too many times to count since boarding this train over a year ago. Well, I'm back after months of being hopelessly addicted and ready to break free from the chains again. Hope everyone is well and, especially those who are still in the early stages of freedom from the addiction, maintaining stalwart resolve. Until later (and kind regards)

Well starting on day 4 and what a ride it has been. I cannot believe the cravings and the spontaneous movements of my arm grabbing and looking for my vape. Today was not a good day. Anxiety, depression constant throughout most of the day. Sunsetting and finally calming down. Biological clock I guess. I have made several promises to my Lord that this is it and for help getting me through this. Not much of a religious man but sometimes you need a reminder. I will NOT go on meds to get me through this, just another battle I will have to fight. Please can someone find the poem, I believed it was called " The little gray room". What a masterpiece that is. Would love to read it again.

Yeah, nicotine is a hell of a drug. It is best to get it out of your system and keep it out. When I vaped, prior to quitting, I think I was actually consuming more nicotine and taking more puffs than with regular cigarettes. I think not smelling like an ashtray gave me a false sense of security but I would get sharp headaches on occasion when vaping that I did not usually get from regular cigarettes. There are likely a lot of health issues that have not been discovered yet from vaping. You've done this before, though. Time to put nicotine behind you once and for all. You can do this. **Also, I second what @Reciprocity said. The NOPE page can be helpful if you think you may be interested. Just pledge to make it through the day without taking a puff and worry about tomorrow when tomorrow comes.
  21. I am saying NOPE to smoking for today.

@stzr500, I forgot to mention The Daily NOPE Pledge thread. Some people find it helpful to renew their commitment to quit & stay quit by posting NOPE (Not One Puff Ever) in this thread. The idea is that you're just committing not to smoke for one day; today! Often when we think of quitting we look too far ahead and it all seems overwhelming but if we take smaller bites, such as just one day, it seems more doable. Just wanted you to know that thread was there in case that's of interest to you.

Vaping has often been promoted as the 'safer way to get nicotine into your body' but truth is, vaping hasn't been around long enough for long term studies to show the possible harm it does to the human body. As far as I'm concerned, anything but fresh air that we beath into our lungs has a potential to harm us. Even fresh air these days is getting harder and harder to find, depending on where one lives which adds more wehight to not introduce anything else to our lungs that may have a negative effect. There's a section on this forum with threads about vaping. Perhaps you could read those as a source of infomation? https://www.quittrain.com/forum/18-vaping-juuling-unquestionable-addiction-reckless-aftermath/
  24. @beazel I’m sorry I missed the party! What a treat to poke around here and find this great news! Congratulations!!! Thank you for your support over the years and being the best game starter ever!
  25. Run. Not long - 5 minutes - as long as smoking the cigarette would have taken... as fast as you can keep it up for 5 minutes. Guaranteed you won't want a smoke for quite a while afterword. Want to kill the craves for all day? Go on a 10-miler. Easy Peasy
