Can't find a way to edit that Title Typo.

People who logged off of the other site, myself included, can no longer log in.  According to moderator/admin, they had not heard from the owners in several months.  Not sure exactly what the problem is...  I did receive some sort of certificate error.

 

Today, someone posted that the owners are going to try to fix the problem.

Was going to post a comment....delete.... Nope!

It's not the first time it has happened over there and it won't be the last unfortunately. Very sad for the members who go there for support. Particularly newbies. Disrespectful.

I do believe somebody finally heard from administrators over there and the site is going to stay up.

 

I do want these members to know that they always have a place to come back to here if they want to stay here... come and go as they please...be on both boards if they want. Or.. Use this site as a back up if it happens again. They are always, always welcome.

I'm glad that they have a back up plan in a place they can regroup at any time. It's important

 

It's all about the quit.

 

The owner of this site paid out-of-pocket with no contributions... there is no link to any kind of store..AND, he was a smoker. I think that makes all the difference in the world

This is the first time in two years that i have not been able to log on to the other site but there have been numerous times where the site was completely down, one time for several days.  Not good for newbies for sure!  And not good for any quitter really.

 

Nice fact about the owner and I agree that his being an ex-smoker does make a big difference.

I really hope some, if not all of the new people who have joined us either stay around or at least come back and visit us once in awhile. It's always nice to get input from other quitters and the more we have lending support to each other, the better it is for all of us.

 

I know all you new members that just arrived would probably rather be back with your long established friends and that only makes sense but I would also like to have a chance to get to know more of you too so at least consider keeping your profile here once your old board gets fixed - now I made myself sad  :cray:

This site was started because of the big divide amongst members. So much bickering back-and-forth that there is just no way to repair it so, thats what prompted the divide initially. It was about 50/50. however, what really drove the owner of this site to start his own message board was because of the actual owners of that board. the links to tobacco products and the fact that they were a business, The fact that they had never smoked a cigarette in their life, and the fact that they didn't listen to the members and follow up on requests and messages. there was a constant moderation of the board and honestly, we are all adult. I'm a moderator and I rarely have to moderate this board in 3 years except when I'm getting rid of spam which the members are the ones Who report them to me. Members respect one another.

 

The members are what runs this board.

The members are the most important people here.

Administrator and moderators will do our best to always make the members feel respected and valued. Regardless of their support style, regardless of their lifestyles , regardless of their sense of humor's or lack of it....we are all in this together. That's the common denominator. And none of these boards would survive without them.

This board works....as long as you are not offensive on purpose to hurt that person...

We just have banter...the more fun we have..the more we like it..

Before I joined here.... I emailed the admin to make sure it was ok because I was banned and they tried to ip blocked me.... they didn't want me read the support pages from outside. No support and no care factor. I was accused of have two profiles because I was using hide.me host when I had only one member profile. Rotten management and admin who didn't have any IT skills.

I was accused of impersonating my mother who was also a member and quit 4 years now.

She didn't have a clue what was going on half the time and they were accusing her of being me. Poor lady but luckily shes strong and sassy and gave it right back to them. Lol

That is a really low act of them babs.... they really have no IT skills to figure what is what or that the dibber dobbers were the actual problem. The site was on a downward spiral well and truly by the time I got there. No interest in it now as they weren't making the money they hoped for from products to sell to nicoaddicts. Just as bad as big tobacco..... in it for the money and screw the members by using their posts to get google hits and to get people to join and buy their stuff.

I know nothing of these past issues that have been spoken about here as I'm just a newbie quitter and not involved with moderating or admin. stuff but I can tell you that I have seen nothing but top shelf support here on the Quit Train from everyone that I have come across to date. As Doreen point out, we like to have a lot of fun here too, bantering back and forth with each other and we all know it's in good fun, even when the jabs could be construed as somewhat offensive to some?

 

When it comes done to the crunch, every member on this board has each other's back 100% and to me, that's what really counts in the end. You new members from the other board seem like really good folk too. I really hope at least some of you will take a look around here at our daily posts and if you like what you see, continue to come join us at least from time to time. Let us know how you're doing and share in our challenges and celebrations. You are always more than welcome as far as I'm concerned :)

I have been a member "over there" since January of this year. I don't know what happened way back when, but, if it was horrible that is a shame.

 

You have all been very kind to us, and so welcoming - thank you for that. 

 

I certainly can't speak for anyone else, but, this has been devastating. It's like a bomb was dropped in the middle of my world. My quit is still very new and I would have not gotten this far without my family of QSMB members.

 

I go there throughout the day and read & cry & cry & cry. I have run across past posts of mine where I was struggling and as I read the responses I cry & cry & cry. (I'm super sensitive & a bit of a drama queen)

 

I came here this morning and wrote a very long SOS but did not post it because I calmed down by the end. 

 

So even though some here do not like QSMB please understand that i love it there.

Hey Beazel :) I know exactly what you are saying and understand completely. The bonds we form with people on these forums, especially in the early days of our quits, are very special and very strong. Even though they are complete strangers or maybe because they are complete strangers, their unwavering support in times when we are personally struggling means the world to us. It is only natural you would love that place and all those people that are a part of that community. We understand that all the members from QSMB are feeling sad, a little anxious and completely disoriented at this point. I'm glad at least a number of you have come here to huddle together as I'm sure that makes things a little more comfortable for you. We are also doing our best to accommodate and lend support as best we can to you. I'm glad you resolved your SOS crisis earlier today but please do not ever hesitate to post one up if you want/need to. It would be devastating to all of us, particularly you, if you lost your quit without posting an SOS. I also hope things get worked out at your other board so you can once again be reunited with all your very dear friends :)

Beazel....please don't misunderstand...it is not that we don't "like" QSMB..that place was there for me and instrumental in my quit!  I am forever grateful for stumbling across it that day back in 2012.  

 

It's just that...like all relationships and circumstances in life....things turn toxic and you just have to do what works for you.  If it's healthy...stick with it.  If not..time to move on.

I. for one.  am glad that the site is back up and running.  A lot of people rely on it as many do here too....and that's what is most important.
