April 17, 201412 yr I say mini because I have had 2.5 glasses of wine and it's a rule not to drive after that...even if it is all back roads and less than a mile. But am I willing to take the dog for a really long walk? Not sure. Family coming in tomorrow. Just spent all day trying to get things presentable around here and make things comfortable for EVERYONE. Not planned, but there will now be the four stepdaughters, me and hubby, and my sister and my dad in our 2 bedroom 1 bath 640sq ft house. A little stressful. Just nothing is going right today. Drop the girls off this morning at school (35 minutes away). Get a call halfway home. Littlest has pink eye. Turn around and drive back and get her. Can't get Dr. appt. till late afternoon. (also has to go to dr. over half hour away). Thank you, school nurse. You are an idiot. Like I said...she had something stuck in her eye and eyedrops would have been fine. No pink eye. Can't get everything done for family as I procrastinated (as usual) and had to drive around for hours today. We finally get home around 5pm and there is constant fighting. Hubby just sits there and watches. R u kidding me? Defiant teenager doesn't come home. Really? You are already grounded. Can't even post the rest of the story but OMG! Crazy. I know none of these things are the end of the world and I know that a cig will not fix any of them but if I had one of those cig machines beside me right now...I would probably get some.
April 17, 201412 yr Trish....posting an SOS even if small....is the smartest thing to do! Sometimes you need validation and people to remind you of how great it is to be smoke free!!! Think about it......when you are having a rough time...and nobody seems to cooperate......that's when you realize...the only thing you can control is what YOU do...and Not sticking anything in your mouth and lighting it on fire...that's YOUR choice....you have control over something...YOU! You are a non smoker!! and a beautiful one at that! Yay Trish!!!!!!!! PS--I am a major procrastinator!!!! I'm working on that....I'll get to it tomorrow :)
April 17, 201412 yr Damn those defiant teenagers! I've had years worth of those. We're walking with you sweetpea. No smoking allowed :)
April 17, 201412 yr Trish, No SOS is too small! Trish you are doing great and are nearly at one month, am I right?! You are worrying about the upcoming visit and that is natural. Identify those triggers and come up with a plan to be proactive and stay smoke free. Have you spoken to your family about your concerns? Hang on Trish, you can do this, we are behind you all the way!
April 17, 201412 yr I'm sorry you're having a bad day. :( My advice to you is that you need to take smoking off the table. You need to commit to the idea that no matter what, you will not smoke. You are tempted to smoke because you still feel a cigarette will help. It's a lie, please don't listen to the lie. You are capable of handling anything life throws at you without smoking. Proud of you for posting here. To me that means you want this quit. check out the quote in my sig.

I have spoken to my sister...so she knows. She knows when I quit...my relapses...they both smoke and I felt so prepared to be around it but these last few days have just put me over the edge. Just needed to vent. You guys may get more of that and I am sorry!
April 17, 201412 yr I raised 4 teenagers and they damn near drove me insane. My teens thought they were smarter than me, so I let them think that all they wanted. You are smarter than them, stronger than them, and you've got this far with them. You can get through this NOPE
April 17, 201412 yr Trish That just sucks. I am sorry to hear that. A cigarette is not the answer to anything. It never was. Do not smoke. You are a non smoker. Walk like one, act like one. Gut it out. People are watching you, you are someone's inspiration. Doesn't matter if you don't want to be and didn't ask to be on exhibit. You are in the hot spotlight. Get out of it. Sending you hugs ((Trish)). Whatever you need to keep the quit you do it...as long as it is legal. ;) Markus
April 17, 201412 yr Julie...can you write a book? and fast? Have you seen her blog? I might have to increase the amount of pages.lol :) Seriously though, life can be super stressful and you just want to throw you hands up. You did great by coming here and posting this. This is how you train yourself to keep your quit. You don't really want to smoke. Your brain is still used to thinking this way, but you know better which is why you posted here. Keep your chin up. :) Things don't have to be perfect for your family because they're coming to see you. I doubt that your Dad cares if the blue table cloth didn't get ironed in time (you know what I mean).

You are smarter than them, stronger than them, and you've got this far with them. You can get through this NOPE Where is the manual? Bc to go from 0 kids to teenagers really isn't fair! I was a teenager once, so I would think that would give me an advantage, but no. I feel like that was too long ago. Good thing is...I was concerned about her losing respect and not following rules. Tonight...she showered (which she always refuses to do) and went to bed (again...must be told several times every night). This tells me either: She knows she did wrong and is scared. she is on drugs. She claims she was at church so let's hope for the best.
April 17, 201412 yr I don't have a manual but my teenage girls and I got along a lot better than with their mother and my teenage boys got along better with their mother. It is because they know that you know what they are going through and that really p*sses them off. Just don't use the line "when I was your age........" That's the kiss of death LOL
April 17, 201412 yr Author Things don't have to be perfect for your family because they're coming to see you. I doubt that your Dad cares if the blue table cloth didn't get ironed in time (you know what I mean). I know...my sister has already stressed this very much and I am grateful for that. It's just a really tight place for a lot of people so I try to make it as comfortable for everyone as possible. Let's hope sissy is ok with being woken up at 6am (or ealier) every weekday. Oh and did I mention that I got hubby's sandals in the mail today and I think they are too small. He says no so we are keeping them. And one of the dogs is in full blown heat. So now the male dog (who got nuetered too late...because he was a stray) wants to rape her and she is ok with that? (normally she would kick your a$$ but she likes him for some reason and cries ALL DAY LONG). No hubby...don't get your dogs fixed. They are only 7+ years old but yeah...we are going to breed them. Really?
April 17, 201412 yr I'm a grandpa now, or make that great grandpa. And if I'd known how great grand kids were, I'd have had them first :)
April 17, 201412 yr Author I'm a grandpa now, or make that great grandpa. And if I'd known how great grand kids were, I'd have had them first :) That is so cute! I would never have guessed you were a GGP. Thank you all! Things are ok now. All kids are in bed. It's almost 11pm so obviously I am not walking anywhere. I would look like an idiot, right? Going to finish folding the laundry (it's so late bc all pink eye laundry had to be done first ((bedding, towels, etc)) ...and hubby turned off the water to the washer yesterday which I didn't know until 1 hour AFTER I started it). Yes I will be glad when this day is over and I may even let the hubby get up early to take the girls to school.

Really? I'm sorry but you have a way with words and that really made me laugh. Not at you, but with you (you are laughing right? A little? ) My wife got fed up with me walking around the house with my flip flops on and the clicking sound was too much for her one day. Cut them in half. Got a new pair the same day and made damn sure I clicked real hard off my heels when I walk. hahahahaha
April 17, 201412 yr Hey Trish, … We will be here tomorrow if you need to let er rip again. …. Get you some sleep. Tomorrow is a new day. :)

MQ, I love your wife already...my hubby won't wear flip flops...which I am probably grateful for. But if he did what you did...he might be sleeping in the trailer.

April 17, 201412 yr Hi Trish, sounds like you made it through, and with flying colours too. You really do have a great attitude considering all that was fling on! I recommend that you stay close to this board for the weekend, and basically strap yourself in and prepare for some major triggers. They might never come, but better to be prepared for them if they do. And go any read the answer you wrote to respond to your own SOS :)
