January 26, 201511 yr I wasn't sure where to post... we shut our internet off to move. Won't be back in for a couple more weeks at least. It's so hard to do all this on my phone I have Awful 3g and I'm so frustrated! I was doing so great! My days were going up cravings going down. Moving day officially came. It was a ton of work i almost dropped a stove on my husband moving it down the stairs! He was in a hurry to get in and living here. He pushed to fast! I moved a lot on my own. I got what he wanted in and the heat wasn't working the water didn't work right the toilet didn't flush! The landlord fixed it all the next day but we still had to sleep a night with nothing! I flushed by buckets and it was cold our kids were miserable! The day they came to fix everything was the day we moved big stuff. That morning I just came unglued. :( I fell to the floor in a heap of tears. My husband acted like he just had better things to do and left me there and went to the car. I have my nephew my sister had her baby and he is yellow won't let him go home yet. So I've had him the whole time trying to move. Plus my 5 yr old. The day after we moved I worked 11hrs with one break long enough to eat. I'm sure I'm tired I'm constantly on the verge of crying mostly because I feel out of control! Tomorrow is the day I start over start fresh. No smoking day number one again :( I was so ready I'm still ready but not as sure anymore that I can do this. I'm not the only one right?? I want to do this!! 100% I want it! Errrrrr!
January 26, 201511 yr So sorry, Jen. Hang in there, okay. Smoking only makes matters worse. Once you overcome smoking, addressing the rest will be easier. I hate those days when everything seems to go wrong. It all seems to happen in phases, right? My dishwasher, my car, my printer at work, my printer at home,my dog and more - all gave me major shit within a few days of each other. I considered smoking for sure, but thankfully didn't have a way to get to the store (car problems) and wouldn't have been able to hide my smoking like I had been able to in the past. Smoking sucks.
January 26, 201511 yr You can really do this Jen... you just have to commit to no smoking under no circumstances Sorry to hear so many things went wrong for you... tomorrow is day 1 :)
January 26, 201511 yr You CAN do this! And tomorrow will be waiting for you :). They say everyone's quit is different but I can tell you my week 2 and into 3 was filled with tears..out of the blue mini-sobs and then they were gone. It was like this angst just built up and released and then I was fine. Maybe it will be the same for you and something to anticipate. Moving would be hard but that's behind you now so... way to get back on the train asap!!
January 26, 201511 yr No you're not the only one who fell off the wagon but still really wanted to be quit. The only difference is you decided smoking would "help you" in some way. At a point in your quit an "aha" moment arrives where you realize it makes all worse not better, you can pursue it faster by educating yourself about the nicotine addiction. You need to understand it is a vicious circle and that smoking doesn't fix stress...do you feel better being a smoker...well no, because all you're thinking is about not smoking again (which is fabulous by the way). So yes, it happens. Perfect news you want to jump straight back on. No judgements here, I've been where you were. You just need to decide no matter what you won't smoke. There will be tests, and it's so true that life has all manner of stresses that will come, but they also go. Can't wait for you to be free and content and it will happen for you for sure if you just choose to not smoke, no matter what. Soon enough those urges get less until my stage where it's just an occassional dumb thought that you dismiss easily. Separate to all that though sorry about your super stressful move, sounds nasty. Pleased landlord fixed stuff quickly for you. x
January 26, 201511 yr Aww Jen.... No lecture here...only advice.... I spent 52 stupid years thinking smokes made it better when I was in a crisis ,when fhey actually didn't do anything.... This was the one part of thinking ,that I did my most work on.... Read all you can again..... Jump back on the train.....and buckle up...... You can do it......
January 26, 201511 yr Author Thank you all for your replies! I'm feeling better this morning. Things are starting to settle down. My husband went to work so I'm happy for the extra breathing room. I don't think he realizes how extremely over the edge he can send me by being so thoughtless. My step daughter is home from her mom's she's been an huge huge help with my quitting. She is always giving me small reminders why I quit. She's 12 but amazingly bright. We're snowed in lol yay! Won't catch me going out in the snow with 3 kids to buy them nasty things. So it's off to sleep a couple more hours then some fun smoke free time with my kiddos what a wonderful day
January 26, 201511 yr Day 1 Jen, you can do this it's a learning curve and a journey, the best thing is you came back Have a good day x
January 26, 201511 yr Today is a new day. Start again and this time vow to not smoke no matter what. No matter what. Millions of people face stress in their lives without smoking and you can too. You just have to stop believing in the lie that nicotine helps when it doesn't. It always makes things worse. You can do this Jen! If I can anyone can. Get back on the train!
January 26, 201511 yr Hey Jen Good practice quit! Relapses can of course happen. Some good advice above; if you already picked this up, then I apologise for restating so bluntly: It is your quit. You chose to smoke. Not your sister or her baby or your hubby or your move. You. It's all about you Jen. You can absolutely do this. Day 1 is where all quits start.
