Hello,

I quit smoking 23 days ago after 28 years smoking. I am reading all messages here and they have been very helpful.
I need to work on triggers and cravings and find ways to undo a lifetime of habits on top of this addiction behavior and this is so hard since all I did was with smoking.

Thank you all

Hello Quinzee!

Hi @Quinzee  Welcome to the Train. Stick around because we can offer you great support and encouragement as well as some great tips to help you stay quit.  The beginning is not easy, we all know that, but the longer you stay quit, the easier it will become.  My suggestion is to read all the information on here.  Do the daily Nope pledge every day because I think that will help you a lot as it has helped me and many others on here.  Stay close to the train and reach out whenever you need us.  Since we have members from all over the world, there usually is someone around at all times.  I look forward to seeing you again soon!😃

Welcome to the group. Over three weeks, good for you and keep it up! Maybe see this as a chance to be more in the present moment while doing whatever habit you used to do while smoking without it.

Congrats of quitting @Quinzee! You've almost got your first month smoke free underyour belt and that\'s something to celebrate!

Live your life as normaly as possible and keep as busy and active as you can at all times. That will lessen the cravings. Idle time on your hands just sitting there thinking allows your mind to fbe occupied with thoughts of smoking - romancing the cigarette and that's NOT what you want. Learning to live without everything being punctuated by having a smoke takes time & effort on your part but the longer you go without putting that smoke in your mouth, the more natural it will become and before you know it, smoking will just not be part of your daily life and you'll wonder why you ever smoked in the first place!

Congrats on 23 days!  Yes it will take time to "reprogram" 28 years of smoking habits and replace that wasted time with better things.  I love not having to plan activities around smoking.  When can I have one?  Where can I have one?   In fact, as benefits accrued to me (and I actively acknowledged them) I wrote them down so I could remind myself of what I was gaining when I was craving especially in the early days.  It's doable.  Best decision we could make.  Keep going.

Good for you, @Quinzee! Congrats on making it through the first painful phase of withdrawal. You have so much to gain by keeping your resolve. You’ll encounter a lot of firsts in this next phase… first time doing/feeling x or y without smoking. Tackle them one at a time. Keep your NOPE armor shiny!
