Tragedy at hotel

Featured Replies

Yesterday I saw the police at my hotel and didn't think anymore than maybe someone had something stolen

This morning at breakfast I found out a man of only 39 had had a heart attack and died

His wife and two small children were with him

He was a bit over weight and a SMOKER a dangerous combination

I was wondering did he have prior warnings, did his doctor tell him to quit smoking and lose weight?

What if he knew his future and was told at aged 39 you will die on holiday in front of your small children

would he of changed his lifestyle?

This is very sad and what devastation for his family maybe his death won't be in vain maybe someone reading this will quit, will remain quit

Although he didn't or couldn't save his own life maybe he can save yours?

Well, it might not have been a tragedy, he could have been a wife beating kiddy fiddler... And his death has actually saved loads of unnecessary suffering and released his family from mental bondage... So every cloud eh?!

Thank you for posting this Tracey.

It's pretty tragic, but a great example...39 is far too young.

This could be true and would make me feel better about the situation all I know is what people said this morning was English, fat and smoked like a trooper, I can't recall seeing them :(

Sure makes you think about things

We forget how dangerous food and smokin can be. Or we think it won't be us.

Hope his family is ok

39.... wow. Far too young, but it really can happen to anyone. I was hearing something about a 16-year-old having a heartattack and dying fairly recently, so regardless of age, it CAN happen. Scary, but true.

It's why The Sarge quit smoking, started running again, switched to a healthy diet,  and lost 36 pounds at the same time.

He remembers this conversation with The Doc in mid 2011 : "... somethin' somethin' ... yadda yadda yadda ... IMINENT DEATH from a 'Severe Cardiac Event' within the decade ..."

Sarge's cholesterol and fat numbers were off the charts, his glucose/sugar numbers were pre-diabetic, he had Stage II high blood pressure, and smoked like a chimney.

Ol' Sarge is quite sure The Doc was right.  He had an express ticket to Heart Attack City terminating at The Dirt Nap Depot before the age of 50.

Things are better, now, but there is residual risk from a lifetime of abuse ...

I once knew a 39 year old Scot who was fat and smoked like a trooper....5 years ago in fact...

Still a Scot.

Getting less fat

Non smoker now.

Cholestorols, Blood sugars good...off for brisk walk now!

Well done stu ....feels good eh?

"it will never happen to me" we should never take our lives for granted again, we know the risks and chose to ignore them in the past, scary scary, so young

A work in progress Doreen, but nice to control rather than be controlled!

The Doctor. "Well. The genes are the genes. You are a Scot, which does not point to longevity. But, stop smoking, eat well, get fitter and get outside. You give yourself the best chance"

The thing is, as the health improves, the quality of life improves, making it much more fun to be around.
