June 8, 201412 yr I really hope that I do not smoke today. I had 1 yesterday and it did not feel good. So I started to do something symbolic to end my smoking relapse. I decided its time to clean out the ashtray in my car, it has been dirty since I quit in January. And then I purposely searched the property where I live and picked up and threw away all my old stinky cigarette butts. I then searched the house, found and threw away all the lighters and matches. Actually I made a fire and burned them all, it was more fun..... I still feel lucky in some way that I have not been smoking full time again and physically I do not have to endure hectic withdrawals, so I am looking forward to and hoping to enjoy this quit. I bought The Only Way book yesterday and have begun reading it too, damn long book...... but have at least begun relating to Allen Carr from the start. Recovery from smoking will be much easier if I have people to identify with. Being able to identify with people has really helped me stay off heroin and crack for just over 6 years, the difficult part there is everytime I am at NA people are smoking and thats a trigger for me, thing is I absolutely can not stop going to NA as I am very involved there and need meetings to stay clean. Sso there you have it, I am Rowland, I am an addict (in more ways than one), and I want to quit smoking for good.
June 8, 201412 yr Hi Rowland I am Tracey and I am an addict good positives steps you made clearing out all the junk :) one step at a time glad to see you opening up more - this will help NOPE - just for today and then repeat keep posting if you can - if not write it down :)
June 8, 201412 yr Author I am going to write stuff down, the same way I did when I quit the other stuff.... being online often isnt an option for me. But I will keep coming back when I can to check and post.
June 8, 201412 yr All of us are addicts, and all of us need support to stay off the bad stuff. I am so glad you are trying again Rowland. We are here for you and Allen Carr is amazing in my opinion. I don't think I could have happily quit smoking without reading his stuff. Previous quits I always felt like my life was over when I quit. I had to go back to his book several times for a pick me up, but it worked. Onward and upward. Hang tough! Vent if you need to!
June 8, 201412 yr Author I did not smoke today! A W E S O M E. So far I am thinking Allen Carr should stick to helping people quit smoking and not get involved where he has no experience..... I am trying to be open minded though. On another note..... I am unable to vent properly as I feel like I should not be swearing or cursing online where the public might read it. I am told there is a place around here where I can vent properly, but I need a password....

Hi Rowley, you can ask admin or any of the moderators for the password and then you can swear away to your hearts content ;) Sorry to see you smoked yesterday, but it sounds like you are taking positive steps now to quitting for good. It sounds like you already have a lot of experience with addiction, so that should all be very helpful to you for the journey too. We are here if you need us!
June 8, 201412 yr Rowly you have to focus on how fantastic you are doing, we are all addicts and we are all here to help and support each other, pm me if you want to vent, rant, rave let off steam its no problem if it helps, one step at a time and you will succeed xx
June 9, 201412 yr I think that's the most I've ever read from you Rowly, You just moved yourself forward in that post. Accepting it and it's control over us is the key in my humble opinion. I understand you saying there are triggers at another support group, can you actually ask them for their support? Like can they move away from the door to support you, or similar? A lot of folks rave about Allen Carr, good job you have the book. I found whyquit.com powerful for a quick "jolt" back to the reality of what smokes would do to me over the book. Quicker and immediate. Just a thought if you're tight for time andstruggling at any point. Sos too, if you need to, don't think, just do it before a crave drags you back. I for one will stop and help. How is today for you? xx
June 9, 201412 yr Author Today I'm clean and serene from nicotine! Just busy at work, but will be checking in at lunchtime....
June 9, 201412 yr Very glad to read this!!! Sounds like you're fed up with feeling like shit and are going to make it stick this time. You keep this attitude and you got this quit in the bag. :)
June 9, 201412 yr Author I am fed up with feeling shit! I got myself a little journal to keep note of things. I am starting to agree with Mr. Carr..... the nicotine is probably the worst drug around. I am enjoying reading his book so far....

June 10, 201412 yr Author Hoo- $#@/'^'- raaah! I did not smoke today! There were a few moments when I thought about smoking, but I know that a thought cant kill me unless I act on it. Just for today I did not act out my thoughts and I am better for it. Clean and serene from nicotine!
June 11, 201412 yr I just wanted to say, read what you wrote above again now, it might help you remember how much you want this freedom and give you some ammo to fight the thoughts you seem to have at the moment. x
