May 4, 20215 yr So anyone on here have their automobile break down at a gas station during the early days of their quit? High 80’s? High humidity? Had to go in and buy a bottle of water and a Coke. Oh and a package of doughnuts. LOL No. Never even thought about cigarettes or smoking. But still, what are the odds? Story of my life. Murphy’s Law.

In hindsight, that was pretty stupid on my part. A jack and lug wrench is what I needed. The cigarettes were a waste of time and a distraction from the job at hand.

May 5, 20215 yr Good for you hanging onto your quit and lucky you for having a handy son-in-law. My husband always did our car repairs. Since he is getting older, it is hard for him to climb under the car or rv but will not give into paying someone an outrageous fee to fix them. You are doing awesome Gus. Keep that beautiful quit going!
May 5, 20215 yr What will go wrong went during my quit . Like the fridge goes , so went the dishwasher , then the oven all just past the warranty date and all three at once . The cost , anger , no smokes . Frustration you bet , no smokes , inconvenience oh ya , no smokes . Got past those then the dryer heating element , the garage door and the furnace humidifier all three at once . Parts for the humidifier not made anymore what the heck , a new house by the way apparently they only last ten years lol .. parts finally found in the states a country away , a month later because of covid finally received . Still not smoking . Oh before I moved into my new house I lived in a very nice condo whose ladies bathroom flooded all into my apartment below I had just begun my quit just months in and like you smoking was not a thought . What a beautiful moment in the midst of unpleasantness . Did I tell you , I used to live in the boonies .. I want to go back lol ! I love the boonies ! The moral of the story is ex smokers remain ex smokers . Once we get a taste of the freedom we can not be moved . All kinds of reasons we smoked for in the past we don't even think twice anymore . Being free is just that . The change is real and keeps getting better . I am not surprised you got through this . You've been strong through day one . You have good insight into discerning your goal from addictions goal . Car will be fixed and not too hardly hit . Perhaps it was meant to be , perhaps if things hadn't happened the way they did you would have bought smokes . Silver lining in all of this . Enjoy your smoke free rides in the boon docks . Enjoy the fresh air and beautiful sites safely .
