Maddie May's Birthday is a globally recognized event now. The little gal is doing great, she's healthy and happy. We're starting to get more insight into her personality with each passing day and I tell you what, Maddie is a little sweetheart. She's quick to flash a smile at you. If you talk to her, she does her best to carry on a conversation with you. She has a very pleasant and content demeanor. Even when she gets sleepy she'll let out a little "waah" and then rub her face on my shoulder. It's her way of saying: I don't want to cause a scene here, but I need to get some sleep. Maddie is my little workout buddy now. When she lays on her tummy, she has started pushing up on her arms. I follow her lead and get in a few push-ups myself. "Tummy time" is a big deal at my house now. Whatever gifts me and Sugar Britches get Maddie for her Birthday will pail in comparison to the amount of love and joy that little girl has given us.

September 30, 20205 yr Author Miss Maddie is really starting to find her voice now. She is adding to her repertoire daily. There's the car alarm: wha, wha, wha, wha, wha...she really belts it out on that one. The Nature Boy Ric Flair: whooooooo! And she just started doing a fake sneeze noise that makes both me and Sugar Britches laugh. She's just hamming it up with the sneezing bit. The little gal is sleeping uninterrupted for longer periods at night and staying up for longer periods during the day. This is good, but the sleep schedule is all over the place right now. Maddie woke up at about a quarter after three this morning and was making all kinds of silly noises. For just a split second there, after waking up from a deep sleep, I thought Jerry Lewis had snuck in the house during the night. Maddie was perfectly content just laying there in the middle of the night grabbing her toes and talking up a storm...not a care in the world. That's a good way to be.
September 30, 20205 yr Yaaa....A new update .... Lol..Our Princess is truly finding her voice ...The Jerry Lewis voice sounds fun .. Specially just after 3 am ...Lol.... They are so cute ...she knows her sneeze noise ..will get a laugh ...so does it more ... It won't be long before the teething starts ....get ready ..... She is coming along so fine Boo....

She seemed surprised by her own ability. She got a little wide-eyed at first, but started smiling when we told her what a good job she had done. The back to stomach move is a work in progress. She shimmies around a bit, but hasn't quite built up the momentum needed to make that move. She'll get there in time. Maddie gave me a good laugh this morning. I drove over to Decatur this morning for work and stopped by the house to check on my girls before heading back to the office. Sugar Britches was telling me that Maddie got a bit grumpy before taking her morning nap. Maddie looked at me and shook her head from side-to-side then smiled real big. I don't have any reason to not believe what Sugar Britches was telling me, but Maddie has plausible deniability just by virtue of being so cute.

When she turns her head she tilts over in that direction. And she's just about figured out the rolling routine. She can go from stomach to back like a champ now and has flipped from her back to her stomach a couple of times. Gets her little legs working to build momentum and squirms around a bit, eventually she gets back to her stomach. Maddie is sleeping for longer periods at night now. It's not uncommon now for her to sleep six hours without waking up. Last Friday, she slept for nine hours straight. One of my favorite times of the day is when she's just waking up. She's all smiles first thing in the morning...does this thing where she covers her eyes with her arm and then pulls the arm away and giggles. Miss Maddie and Cash have become good friends. Cash was a bit standoffish at first, he didn't know what to make of the new addition to the family. If Maddie was having a crying spell he would get as far away as he could. Now, those two are inseparable. If Maddie is in her bouncy chair, Cash is right there. If Maddie is playing in the floor, Cash is usually laying right there with her. And Maddie thinks the funniest thing in the world is Cash drinking from his water bowl. She has a full-blown giggle fit every time Cash goes for a drink. Maddie has given me the four best months of my life.

Yesterday she started doing multiple rolls at once. Rolled right off of her playmat and just kept rolling until she ran out of room. Maddie is rolling through the house like a chubby little tumbleweed now. She also thinks it's funny to roll around when we try to change her diaper or put her clothes on. I thought crawling was the first step to mobility for babies. I didn't count on my little girl doing barrel rolls at four months...I get the feeling the little gal is going to throw a lot of curveballs my way.

October 31, 20205 yr Author Miss Maddie is resting up after her first Halloween. She dressed up as a little pink elephant. Had big floppy ears and a fluffy trunk that was attached right below her chin. She didn't look scary. She did look ridiculously cute though. Did a bit of trick-or-treating, Made visits to both sets of grandparents house. Not surprisingly, the grandparents overdid it with the treats. She got a bag of loot that's bigger than she is at both houses. They even gave her candy in spite of the fact that she's not even eating applesauce yet...it's the thought that counts. Then we went to a local farm that has festivities for the kids. Walked through a corn maze and took a hayride. Sugar Britches took a several pictures of Maddie sitting in the middle of a bunch of pumpkins. Papa Boo got to relive his baseball playing glory days...that guy dressed like a mummy sitting in the dunk tank never stood a chance when I started firing them in there. It was a good Halloween for the Boo Crew.

The little gal has developed a big personality in five months. Maddie is still banging away on those pots and pans every chance she gets. The little gal is also working on her singing technique. Not sure what song she's singing, but she really belts it out. She is also perfecting her swim technique. When she lays on her belly, she lifts her head and works her little arms and legs like she's doing the butterfly stroke. What I'm saying is: my baby girl is multi-talented. Even while honing her talents, she still finds time to amuse her mom and dad. Games of peek-a-boo are a favorite now. Maddie laughs out loud when I play "ride a little horsey, go to town" with her. There is never a dull moment anymore, Miss Maddie lights up the room and keeps us entertained. Maddie is still rolling around, but I think that's just a temporary fix. She's started pushing up now and can get in crawling position for brief periods of time. She's really working at it. Only a matter of time before Maddie goes mobile. The last five months have been great and the fun is just getting started.
November 23, 20205 yr I Remember the days when I sat on your knee...and we played Horsey !!!! Oh !!!!How times change .... Seriously.... She sounds so cute ...and a very happy content young lady .... It does sound like she getting ready to move in a new fast way ....everything goes high then ...out of the way .

November 25, 20205 yr Author Miss Maddie, with some help from Papa Boo, got an early start on the Thanksgiving festivities. And we passed another milestone this morning...Solid foods. I figured with Thanksgiving only a day away, the little gal might want in on some of the traditional foods. I pureed a sweet potato for her. The first spoonful was a trial run. Her tongue got in the way and most of it ran down her chin. Second spoonful: once she got a bit of the flavor, her eyes widened and she started chomping her lips together. The third spoonful was lip smacking good. She was working her mouth and basically making the nom nom nom noise. Maddie hasn't had any stomach issues today, so I think we're all good on gradually working in more solid foods now.
