  1. You are doing a wonderful job TEW! We are all proud of you and you certainly should be very proud of yourself. You have resisted temptation & guarded your Quit. I have read on this site & others about struggling at the point you are at now. Takes special people to resist & you are special ☺
  2. Mike & CPK....I am purchasing Rhodiola today
  3. I can hardly believe my Quit is 12 weeks old today! It has been a challenging journey. Craving has not been a problem at all for me, just insomnia but I am working on this with my Physician. Thanks to ALL of you who have been so supportive with suggestions. I don't want to whine on this site anymore. I WILL win the fight....I'm stubborn
  4. Congratulations CPK! I am so proud of you!
  5. Great job! So nice to hear this Pippa!
  6. Mike. I happen to have a friend who is a very good Naturopathic Doctor. I WILL see her Mike & I will also get some Rhodiola. Thanks for your orders....no, suggestions.
  7. I will deffs check this out Mike! Thanks so much.
  8. So very sorry for your bad week. What a test to be thrust on you in your early Quit :( I am so glad your hubby is ok...pretty darn scary. Good for you for maintaining your Quit....not easy...you are to be congratulated for your strength
  9. Just a quick update. I saw my physician. She thinks my insomnia of 8 weeks now is related to my Quit. I just don't know....there is other personal stuff going on in my life that I can't control so I just have to ride it out. I was prescribed medication for sleep...it didn't work so she doubled it. It still doesn't work. Talked to a Pharmacist friend who is very knowledgeable about insomnia & meds. He suggested I increase the med I am on for Restless Leg Syndrome (another type of insomnia....I did not know that) I did as he suggested and I slept for 2 nights. It is highly addictive so I stopped the increased dosage & again did not sleep till 4 am. I'm not feeling well....too long without proper sleep my internal clock is screwed up. My joints are swelled & sore from the medication my Doc ordered for sleep....it is a side effect. I am not even able to drive when I have not slept. I'm in Lala Land..... I have an appointment in a week with my Physician. I don't want to go on the big gun meds. I am getting quite depressed with all this crap going on but I WILL NOT SMOKE. Trying new methods of sleep therapy to convince my natural Melatonin to resume normalcy in my brain. I can't tolerate Melatonin medication which just sucks.
  10. How are you doing Ev? Hope the cravings are less. There are things we don't expect to happen but cravings are one thing we DO expect. I get mild ones occasionally but can usually find a way to get rid of them pretty fast. Getting something different on my mind, singing 99 bottlesof beer on the wall to myself, cleaning....now that one is like a gift for pushing that annoying crave away. Just different "stuff" which do not involve smoking!! Good luck!
  11. Ev.....CONGRATULATIONS! You are doing GREAT! And I can hardly wait to catch up lol!
  12. Nope, never, ever
  13. Lol!!! I was whining about wine day.....even wine weekend! I can't have any in the evenin right now because of insomnia but what about afternoon????
  14. Oh no Colleen! How uncomfortable. Because it is Spring and lasts for 3 months it certainly sounds allergy related. Grasses & trees are problematic for people at this time of year. Have you changed any products that you use for showering, shampooing or for laundry? Are you wearing Spring or summer clothing that has not been laundered since last year when you put them away? Is all soap residue well rinsed out of all your laundry....sheets etc? Have you tried a cortisone cream?
  15. My last smokes did not make me laugh at all CPK. I was actually hiding to smoke them & berating myself for my weakness to give in to smoking those filthy things. I used to think I NEEDED them to feel better in stressful situations or to have fun with my friends. Well I didn't need them at all. I had promised myself I was quitting due to a worsening cough. I cut down getting ready to stop....that phase lasted awhile. Finally I did it! But I didn't waste any lol! Smoked the last one in the house them nevrr bought anymore. Done! No temptation in the house, no excuses. I totally agree that you should do what is right for you with your Insomnia CPK! You know yourself better than anyone else knows you. Just do what works. I certainly know you will not go back to smoking. Like me, after getting this far we are not about to do it all over again....never!!! I did not expect this at all. Easy to Quit? Only 3 days and you are nicotine free.....true.....but the withdrawal is different for everyone. Hope, hope, hope your insomnia resolves fast. I finally slept last night with help from my Pharmacist friend. Now to get my internal clock back to normal! 8 weeks of insomnia is going to take some time to recover from but I will do it. When do I get to meet you with a pic? Lol! The one I have on was taken in early January. I sure would not be putting one up of me right now.....lol!
  16. OMG CPK!!! I laugh at my own jokes too....even when nobody else is laughing! Lol! Laughing is a great " herbal remedy"! I think Mr Bacon is on the right track for the EASY THREE way to feeling good after your Quit My insomnia is still there....the increase in medication has not worked yet. I have a Pharmacist friend who gave me information & tips today for beating this insomnia. Quite interesting. I am trying them because I am desperate...not thinking so well on my own. I have been searching the Internet...I can't take Melatonin because of nasty side effects....figures. So, sunshine in the morning is great but not in late afternoon because of internal clock malfunction, no caffeine past 10am & even then only one cup of coffee, no alcohol, no exercise before bed (it said nothing about sex), exercise during daytime to tire oneself out (I could make a naughty comment but I won't), no computer, cell phone, iPad or other electronic device within 3 hrs of bedtime as the light projected by these devices is damaging to natural Melatonin, use Melatonin (if you can tolerate it)....1-5 mg, go to bed when you are tired but not before, cover up any lights from devices in your bedroom like an alarm clock or TV, relax....do not think about NOT being able to sleep (I'm going to sing 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall in my head to clear my mind). So!!!! What do you think? I'm going to go now to do my Yoga Sleep move....lie on floor with legs up against a wall for 10 minutes. There are many different kinds of insomnia. It is serious & needs treatment. I have a great link if you would like it by PM. Hope your insomnia will improve fast! We need our beauty sleep!!!
  17. So happy you are smober & still here reading Mike. I certainly understand your need to do your Quit in the best way for you. You have been through this before & absolutely you should look after things at home that require attention since this is working well for you. I hope I have not missed any of your posts where YOU needed support. Please do not be in the least concerned that you are low key with this Quit.....I totally understand. Congrats on your continued smobriety Mike. You are doing fantastic! I appreciate so very much the help you have given me. I will send you a PM if I need your help! Best wishes for a continuing Nope! Quite a roller coaster ride
  18. Hey Mike! I'm not on board everyday. I've been missing the train lately but I am still NOPE. Miss you. Are you still here? Tyme
  19. I bought Sleepy Time Tea today....had my name on it...Tyme! Contains several herbs for relaxation. I was awake till 5:30 this am. This insomnia is beyond what anyone should have to go through...6 weeks of hell. I called my Doc today to tell her the Trazadone sleep aid she prescribed is not working and she has doubled the dosage. Fingers crossed I will sleep tonight. Sleepy Time tea time. This Quit better be worth the hell I'm going through. Quit younger rather than older....it's a bit easier! Just a Warning to any Lurkers.
  20. SO glad you are feeling better CPK! The articles Mike provided links to re brain healing are under Withdrawal Problems on the first page. They explain a lot & the knowledge reduces anxiety. Your posts are so open & honest and you have a great sense of humour. You are not ONLY an Ex Smoker you know....you are wonderful YOU! Remember that!
  21. Hey Rob. I think a number of people here have experienced chest tightness & some have experienced shortness of breath In my research I read that some chest tightness occurs as a part of the lung clearing process & the tightness creates anxiety which creates more chest tightness. We're all different & a trip to your Physician might be indicated. Knowing things are all ok will give you peace of mind Congratulations on your Quit!
  22. And PS: life is never easy.....coat hanger or not your quit affects your normal coping. Look after YOU. You are worth the same effort you are giving your Quit. Remember that! I had to be reminded of that too!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
