  1. Sarge has a Page in every Chapter of The Great Big Book Of Stupid dedicated to just him. He doesn't mind so much ... except when it costs him money. The Stupid Tax is a tough bill to pay. Easy Peasy
  2. Why stop? Just switch to something benign and zero calorie. Sarge chewed on those plastic coffee stirrer straws for months. Go to gas station. Buy 1 coffee. Hork 50 stirrer straws. They make a pretty good fidgeting instrument to keep the hands busy, now that there's no cigarette to occupy them. Easy Peasy
  3. Ohio River Valley here. We've got *odd* number days this month. Duh!? It's the 27th. It's odd. That's 3 cubed. 3 is odd. Cubed is odd. Sarge is odd. Easy Peasy. BTW - Sarge never says "NOPE". Sarge *does* NOPE.
  4. $20 bucks a day ! 'Cause when you stop for 2 each $5.00 packs o'smokes, you grab a coffee, the newspsper, a pack of gum, a magazine, and any number of random "impulse buy" crap at the gas station counter. It's now ZERO DOLLARS a day. Diddley-squat Squat. Easy Peasy
  5. It is as hard ... or as easy ... as you make it out to be. You are in complete control. Easy Peasy
  6. Old? As Sarge was rounding the corner to the last 200 yard stretch of his first marathon (back in 2008) he heard coming over the P.A. : "... and here comes Edna Sparks - the oldest runner on the Full Marathon Course today at 83 years young ..." Ayup. Sarge got passed in the last 200 yard sprint, and beat, by an 83-year old Grandma. Sarge barely beat 6 hours that first time. (5:48). As he's gotten almost 10 years older he now runs it in 3:30, give or take. Age. Means. Nothing. It's all about consistent, long term, accumulation of training miles ... at any age. Easy Peasy
  7. They are also *huge* bug attractors. You will be spitting out mosquitos and swatting away moths the entire time. Easy Peasy
  8. Sarge is Race-ist. He prefers Races with the full 26.2 miles. Easy Peasy
  9. Denial and dishonesty it is then. We'll talk later ... Good day. Easy Peasy.
  10. Did you, or did you not send The Sarge a series of PMs whereby you declared your exit from the forum, and called out Sarge *specifically* naming him as the sole reason. ... AND Did you then proceed no NOT follow through on your declared intentions (much like NOT following through on your quit) ... AND Then ... did you or did you not proceed to delete/remove the conversation (for reasons completely unknown to The Sarge). Based upon these actions and the complete denial, as evidenced byabove horse-hockey about being "incredibly strong" when actual action demonstrates otherwise ... The Sarge reiterates his previous: He will revisit upon your next relapse. Remember what Sarge told you to remember in the mystery removed messages. Until then ... Easy Peasy
  11. Most of them, in Sarge's mind, never got to see the smoking for what it actually is. Yeah. They were told. They were schooled. They did NOT learn. Easy Peasy
  12. Don't bother responding, folks. Sarge has been informed he's just too much of a Big Ol' Meanie and OP will have to leave the forum ( where, of course, there will be no accountability and continued relapse will be inevitable). It's OK. Sarge doesn't mind if you think he's your excuse for a failed quit. You aren't the first and certainly won't be the last. You would be wrong, of course, but it's OK. Addicts don't logic appropriately. When you understand that... you will be on the path to a successful, permanent quit. Until then? Enjoy your smokes! Easy Peasy Easy Peasy
  13. The standard lie everyone in Denial shares : "None of that sh|t can ever happen to Sarge. He's *invincible* ... right?" Easy Peasy
  14. It's more the Planning part than The Plan itself. Easy Peasy
  15. Sarge told you he'd catch up with you at your next relapse... Here. We. Are. One question: Do you want to quit or not? Do. You. Want. To. Quit. ??? Easy Peasy
  16. It is,indeed, a long road ... but you are only making longer than it need be. Easy Peasy
  17. Sarge asks *again* : Do you want to quit or not? Easy Peasy
  18. Sarge asks a simple question: Do you want to quit or not? Easy Peasy
  19. Sarge says hello from 11,000 feet Easy Peasy
  20. The "fog" goes and you will be all that much sharper for not fighting the fog and worry of when your next fix comes. Your current fog is an illusion, masking the actual fog you've been in for years due to addiction. Easy Peasy
  21. Uhhh ... Easy Peasy
  22. Sadly, Whiskey is that much *more* efficient, by volume. Easy Peasy
  23. That's what treadmills and cool basements are for. Ours stays 74-ish without air conditioning even when it gets over 100 outside. Underground, naturally-cooled, thermally stable basement for the win. Treadmills can be found dirt cheap on Craigslist (often times free). Basements? Not so much. 4/5ths of Sarge's miles are logged indoors. Once it gets over 80 Thermal Exhaustion is a thing. If Sarge has to stop due to overheating, he never gets started again and it's a walk home. That sucks on an 18-miler. Easy Peasy
  24. Tried 'em and all Sarge can say is: No. Just no. It's half-stepping. A half-measure. "Quitting" without *quitting*. Anecdotal, but real nonetheless: the lion's share of folks who started vaping that Sarge knows ended up *more* addicted to the damned thing than they ever were with tobacco. They can suck on it anywhere, any time, and regularly & consistently up the Nicotine Content. That being said, Sarge sucked air through an *empty* e-cig (air, not nocotine, not vapor) durine the first week because it looked cooler than sucking air through a McDonald's straw all damned day to satisfy that oral fix. Easy Peasy
  25. Who knew quitting could extend life by approximately 5.2 billion years? Easy Peasy

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
