  1. Cold turkey is how I did it (and many others), and it's what I whole heartedly recommend. Pick a date and stick to it..don't dread it coming, instead look forward to it. Once over the withdraws and cravings, you will wonder why you waited so long. It will be as painful as you allow it to be. I looked at it as a great new beginning. I was days away from retiring, and just could not picture myself chained to that addiction as I tried to enjoy my "golden years". :p ok...not really golden yet, but I wanted to be around long enough to enjoy them with my kids/grandkids...and in good health. ....I really did look forward to the day I as no longer addicted. I never dreaded that day! I didn't personally read Allen Carrs "The Easy Way" but many here did and swear by it. So, being this is a group of highly intelligent people, I have to agree with them. :D It has been the main reason for countless quits! From what I understand, as long as you read AND understand what he is trying to say, the road to a successful quit will lay ahead of you. Good luck, and keep us posted. When your day draws near, remind us, and we will offer whatever support we can!

-5 Weather is sunny, hot and humid ....mid to upper 80's .. Not complaing though, I prefer any weather that does NOT include a,chance of snow. :p Spam control?... If you refer to me "visiting" new members profile, it's so I can see if they are indeed spam, and if I don't think they are, I try to send a welcome out...I don't see them all, But between me and Jenny, think we cover them. :D

    -10 Hey "P"
  17. That's a classic case of romancing the cigarette... You didn't "enjoy" it... What you did was quiet the addiction down. ...your addiction demanded nicotine and when you would sit outside and give in to it, the withdraws were no longer present, making you THINK that you were enjoying the act of smoking. That may not make a lot of sense, but don't ever think smoking is something that made you happy...

I want to do what she's doing. :D But since my wife works this weekend (12hr shifts) I can't do anything fun either. :p Some of the girls may come by Monday for a picnic, but plans are not coming together to good for that(1 works, 1 has(minor) surgery today, so gotta see how she feels, 1 has plans at the in laws but will try to make it here too, and one has a sick 3 year old.... That case of bubbly sounds good! ;)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
