  16. Hey Diana.. Welcome to the Quittrain! We are here to offer whatever support we can to help you throu the rough times on your way to becoming smoke free. The loss of people who were close to you as a result of smoking is unfortunately a direct result of smoking...not an exception, but the rule. Everyone who smokes, suffers some sort of adverse health effects from it. The best thing you can do for yourself is to do whatever is needed to break the grip that being addicted to nicotine has on you... It IS a drug addiction and you have to battle it like it is. The depression is a result of the effect that the nicotine has on your brain. Your brain is now "wired" to think that you are only happy if you get your fix....and you know that isn't REALLY true, but, that's what your brain screams when you deprive it of nicotine. I have heard that Allan Carrs "The Easy Way" is a great book to read to understand hat goes on when you are quitting smoking...I highly recommend it.... In fact, I recommend reading anything that educates you on nicotine addiction...that's the first step in a successful quit. There is a lot of information posted here, along with a lot of videos... Again, welcome , and congratulations on a great descision.

    New Laptop?

I bought my youngest girls Dell Latitudes when they were going to college. I have heard some people does not care for Dell, but, we have had nothing but great service from them. My IT guy at work recommended them to me, and also suggested I buy as much "extended warranty" that I can afford. Both girls had some issues a couple years after I bought them, and Dell sent someone to their house to repair it with no problem. This was over 8 years ago, and both my girls are still using them today. With that said, I am slow to "upgrade" to new OS when I don't think anything is wrong with the old one....lol... My PC at home still runs XP! ?..lol...I have heard a lot of issues with the Windows 10 system, but most of those were from people who upgraded from 8... The machines that were bought with full version 10 installed.....not upgraded, have fewer problems...but...I digress, that's not really a Dell issue...all in all, I liked the Dell machines we have bought over the years.... Very reliable and they stood behind any issues we may have had. (because of the extended warranty, I'm sure)... Also, you can build it any way you want/need to. It can be taylored to your needs.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
