  3. So sorry to hear this news @Brioski. Shocking and sad! Sending virtual hugs your way. And yes, feelings of grief and powerlessness are big triggers. Glad to hear you quit commitment remains immovable. We used to smoke to numb ourselves in the face of hard feelings. But now that we’ve quit, we need to find other ways to comfort ourselves, cope with restlessness, and temporarily escape. Like @Reciprocity said, be extra kind to yourself as you trudge through this tough time.

  14. NOPE. Definitely not.
  15. What a BEAUTIFUL thing, Nancy, to be free for 10 years and to still be sharing your support and inspiration here. Happy anniversary! Sending love to you and your mom.
  16. For sure!! Sorry you got slimed by a smoking dream, I hate those. So sneaky to pounce while we’re sleeping, for Pete’s sake! I, too, sometimes have those dreams. It can take hours or days to shake the feeling of being haunted by them. Very normal for addiction recovery, but still, YUCK! I also had a weird moment the other day leaving the house: I was preoccupied with other stuff and found myself patting my pants pocket to be sure I had my smokes and lighter with me. !?!? That pocket has been empty since early 2022, yet the muscle memory still lingers. It’s just bananas. A good reminder to always actively “tend” my quit… to engage here, do daily NOPEs, and keep reading.
  17. Hurrah!! Congratulations on achieving a whole year smoke free, Overcome. So happy for you. We’re having a party in your honor tonight on the Lido Deck!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
