  1. Whatever works.
  2. Nicely done Darcy. Glad you are here. Glad I am here too. Seems like everyone has had a heavy Sunday (just cross-referencing with another thread) so your success is a huge celebration for all of us! I've done it both ways: NRT and cold turkey. I found that its hard initially to do the CT quit BUT the relief in being nicotine free is enormous. Just my experience. Blessings to you my dear!

And on that happy note, I am off to the gym in an attempt to maintain the vessel!

It does. However, doesn't seem to be any way around it for anyone. Sending good wishes, positive vibes and love to you ladies.

@LindaI have always struggled during the holidays. However, what I have found that makes it easier to get through is to be of service to others. The time of year is such a set-up, dominated by western consumerism with the (implicit) judgment that if we don't have the Hallmark family, we are somehow losers. Its easy to get caught up in the past, the "good old days." And aging is really difficult as we lose people we love along the journey. BUT we have quit smoking which is such a gift. I find it takes practice to remain in a good frame of mind. But its that same diligence that allows us to be free of the prison of smoking. Sending good vibes your way....K
  7. I bought an inflatable grinch last year that hangs out in the front and leers at passersby. I haven't put it out yet since I am waiting for my neighbor to put up his inflatable Santa. I do have a string of lights in the house but otherwise way low-key here. Glad to hear there is celebration/healing for members of the QT.

Feel like a bit of a stalker here but I love good news and healthy babies. Congratulations. Dare we ask about names?
  9. NOPE!🌈
  10. @GusThank you-hope your day is wonderful.
  11. That terrible fear that we can't survive without smoking gives way to the experience that not only can we survive but we THRIVE without smoking. This is such a gift....
  12. Thanks everyone! Feels really good which is not how I experienced my previous quits. Think you all have something to do with it. Since we have no winter yet, I think I am going to jump on the bike and be grateful that I can breathe! Thank you again...
  13. That has got to feel really good. Congratulations and thank you for the inspiration!
  14. Not to take away from everyones commitment and enthusiasm, including my own, but so that no one gets confused-Today is Wednesday. At least on my calendar! 😜 Wishing everyone a Happy and smoke-free December!
  15. @intoxicated yodaand therein lies the rub! The big brain that goes round and round which is what got us into trouble in the first place.
  16. Nope for the rest of today and into tomorrow!
  17. Thank for you imbuing this site with such great quit energy and showing us how its done.
  18. In the last few days, I have gone hours at a time not thinking about smoking or about not smoking. I can't wait until it is days at a time!

@KatgirlThank you. I am beginning to believe that there is no "normal" in the human experience, just as there are no "functional" families. Everyone I have ever met in this life has some challenge whether it be physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, or financial. We all bleed and we all experience loss. No one gets out alive. We all use something(s) to cope. I know that its on me to have the discipline to do those things (as you mention) that make it easier for me to feel ok. For now, the focus is on not smoking. That is enough for today.
  20. Yep. Really grateful to those who post when they are struggling. Nothing helps an addict like helping an addict.
