  17. As many of you know, I have been blessed with 13 beautiful healthy grandchildren, over the last 14 years. On my Birthday, my only daughter surprised me by announcing that she is expecting her eighth baby, in early September. Erica is 44. I was surprised, pleased, and a bit worried, all at the same time. All of the genetic tests done were normal. However, yesterday she called me, crying hysterically, and explained that a detailed Ultrasound discovered that her baby boy has a severe heart defect. His ventricles are flipped, and his heart is on the wrong side of his chest. Doctors said he will be fine while in utero, but will require major open heart surgery, immediately after birth. Doctors also said, if all goes as planned, he can live a normal life, but he probably won’t be a professional athlete. I took that to mean, that he may have some activity limitations. Erica lives outside of Dallas, that happens to have one of the country’s best Children’s hospitals, where little Gabriel will be born, and have his surgery. Naturally, John and I will be there to help with all the other kids, while Mom and Dad are dealing with all of this. Erica said that as soon as she found all of this out, she “needed her Mom”. She literally called from the parking lot, after her appointment. Needless to say, I did my best to reassure her, and said of course I would be there to support her and her family. So, sometimes, life just sucks! Erica, her husband and I are all trying our best to put things in God’s hands, as this is a lot to take in. Kat

  23. I can’t believe that Covid is still a thing! Somehow, I have avoided it, so far. I have not decided whether or not to get boosted again. Is it just with us permanently, now? Damn! I hope @Mac#23 and @catlover are both feeling much better. As for me, my shoulders are a little sore from my work on the heavy bag. The things I do to try to stay young……… 😂😂 Kat
  24. I did it! I bought an 80 pound bag, a stand for it, which also has a place to hang a speed bag, and 14 oz boxing gloves. Oh, I bought the speed bag too. That should be fun. I haven’t filled it with air yet. But the heavy bag is all set up. What fun! I pretend I’m really boxing, guarding my face, throwing jabs, right hooks, left hooks, uppercuts, etc. I’m surprised how fast it tires me. I’m starting out with 15 minute sessions. I highly recommend this. What a great stress buster! KAT
