  5. Welcome Linda, OK so as Jillar said there are a few of us here who have quit with anxiety and/or depression issues. My first suggestion was going to be make sure you speak to your doctor but you already ticked that box. So personally I have anxiety issues, now I have had these for years and you will see I still have them at the moment but I also have a thyroid condition contributing to this. When I first quit my anxiety (after the first month, and before my thyroid went screwy) was the best it had been in my memory. I found that a lot of my anxiety was linked to "when can I have my next smoke" and I would time my activities around this limitation. This video might be helpful: https://whyquit.com/joels-videos/resources-regarding-mental-health-issues/ This one is good in the early days/before a quit: https://whyquit.com/joels-videos/resources-related-to-the-importance-of-being-smarter-than-nicotine-as-opposed-to-having-to-be-stronger/ Its not about being 'stronger' than nicotine addiction but being smart.... learn everything you can about how Nicotine addiction worked. So everything I have read tells me cold turkey is the best way to quit... for me this was never going to be a option because I don't work that way, I know I don't work that way so for me the way to go was NRT gum. I very much believe every person's quit is individual to themselves and their own personality, history and motivations. It is more about finding what will work for you and going with that. Regarding Chantix, I am not personally a fan, but I know some people who have had successful quits with Chantix. I know that as a medication it can impact on other medications and even some diet interaction issues. I would definately discuss this as an option with my doctor but get as much information as possible. I have a friend who quit at 62 after smoking for 51 years using Chantix.... she had no existing health issues and she had no reactions. She is going very well with her quit and nearly a whole year smoke free. Personally I have a negative experience with this medication. So as long as you get as much knowledge as possible about nicotine and how it makes you addicted and you take it as 1 day at a time you can do this.
  6. Great advice Lucky Joe... I think my biggest issue was the way I decided to cope with the trigger, sure I was shitty that I keep getting the same trigger but it was more that I knew once I had mentally built it into a much bigger issue than it needed to be I ignored the easy fix, posting in here and having someone tell me to get my head out me arse and stop being a d1ck, and consciously pushed the boundaries. So this post is all about accountability for me being an idiot and not so much about me having a trigger.

  9. So August is Happiness Happens Month and I wanna know What make you happy? Happiness Happens Month is a whole month dedicated to celebrating what makes you happy. There is no limit to happiness and it is contagious. So sharing what makes you happy might just bring a moment of joy to someone else and that would make me happy too. So the website says: “The month reminds us that happiness happens one small moment at a time and it’s our job to recognize those moments when they happen. It reminds us that sometimes a small action boosts our happiness. It reminds us that happiness is a personal experience and it’s also contagious!” So I am going to post one thing that makes me happy each day... some will be flipant and silly but some will be more serious. Please share what makes you happy too.

00 ... so I heard a rumour that in honour of Fluffy's Lido Deck Day all Sticks have decided to refrain from posting or to only post as chicks. ?
  11. Nope... because there is some physics law that explains it but its a nope... your probably just old and tired. Why is it that when I need to sleep I can't?
  12. Well done Catlover.... this is an awesome quit you have going.... and not too far in the distance you should be able to see your ship coming in. You are doing such an amazing job so make sure you celebrate well and spoilage is a must. What a ripper job.

True .... I always have dessert on offer if i'm cooking something the kid wont eat. TNP thinks salt and vinegar chips/crisps are gross
  14. Truthfully? ... probably vanish into the ether not wanting to lose face.... and it took well over a decade to have a serious go at this again so this one is the one... there can be no reset moments. Don't worry I'm annoyed at me too. I know I'm 1 puff away from a packet a day and I know I deliberately avoided here last night because I knew how easy it would be for everyone to talk me down.. I was behaving like a belligerent teen... and if I didn't fess up to it here it would be a slippery slope I had put myself on.
  15. And out came a message that said "47 candles short mate" I put in a bad attitude and some fairy floss (candy floss / cotton candy)

You don't feed your dogs every day???? ..... Maybe.... I'm pretty new at this pet ownership thing and I am really bad at the fish owning thing. TNP walks their dogs every day.

True... because I figure if the poor little teens could handle my arse sitting on the floor crying like a nutjob 5 mins before home time without ringing a cat team (mental health critical response) because they didn't have the brand of rice I wanted in the size i wanted by making me a cuppa then they deserve my loyalty. TNp prefers Thai to Chinese take out.
  21. Woohoo... you frickin ripperoonie... well bloody done chook! Thank you so much for carrying my big fat arse on ya shoulders and all the wonderful help you have given me during my quit. You are one of the reasons I am still here. Thank you also for all the awesome slang you have taught me, I watched a Glasgow episode of come dine with me and nearly understood everything they said. Seriously though, you are an amazing role model. You have achieved a wonderful, amazing achievement and are now a smoke free, fluffy purple princess who rides a rainbow farting unicorn. What an amazing inspiration you are and I am so proud to claim you as me mate. So... on this very special of special occasions I'm going to break my sobriety because Reci really did go to town on the purple unicorn decoration theme and say bottoms up as we take a celebratory shot together....
  22. Congratulations @Wee fluffy me for being smoke free for 1 whole, entire year! Well done and Welcome to the Lido Deck. Thank you so very much for sharing your journey with us. For all the support, laughs, advice and good times you give to everyone on the QT. You should be so proud of this big achievement and all the hurdles you have leaped over on your way to this milestone. Make sure you celebrate big, loud and proud today and spoil yourself with something special, even if it isn't a doughnut. Lido Deck specials today include Unicorn Shots and Unicorn Cocktails.... but the piece de resistance is this awesome center piece.... So sit down, feet up, glass in hand and take the well deserved accolades we bestow upon you.
  23. Congratulations @catlover for being 6 months smoke free. Well done for being an official member of the 50%er club because you my dear are half way there. Half way to the Lido Deck. Half way to your first year (of many) of being smoke free. You should be so proud of yourself because 6 months is a big one and we are all proud you have come this far. So make sure you do something awesomely good to celebrate and reward yourself for your wonderful quit.
  24. Congratulations @tocevoD for reaching 7 months. Well done toc... you held on despite a pretty rough month and should be super proud that you have hit the 7 month mark. Make sure you do something to reward yourself today and celebrate this new milestone.
