  1. Almost 3,000 -- this just blow me away that I smoked that much (it would have been more but I had gone from 2 pack a day to 1 pack a day a few months before my quit)
  2. I agree with all of the above. But what I love the most is the look my grandchildren give me now and how they have responded to my quitting -- hard to put in words but it is there.
  3. Kcb, welcome aboard for this journey -- One that will have its up and downs but we are here to help you along the way. I too was a long time smoker ( 44 years) and thought it could not be done but now I am over 4 months into my quit and enjoying each day more. This site has greatly helped me along the way, the people here are amazing. Remember to pledge NOPE daily (it really does help), also deep breathing techniques and lots of cold water will help. Hope to see more of you.
  4. Awesome on the 1 year quit. Enjoy the party on the Lido deck and savor the moment !!!!
  5. QT happy birthday, without you and the members I am not sure where I would be, but I know I am in a better place now -- Thank you!!!!
  6. Awesome job on that 1st month Rose -- take some time to reflect and celebrate -- then move on to that 2nd month -- it does get better (in so many ways)
  7. You are doing good things. Keep up the great attitude, come here often, and you will do this. Breath deep and drink plenty of cold water---
  8. TS this is a great milestone in your quit. Soon you will have to try and figure out the number of weeks. Just this last week I knew I was at 4 full months of no smoking but I had let the anniversary date go by without thinking about it until my celebration post came up from the pig lover. I felt really good about that. I am also going through the days now without thinking about smoking much (still creeps up a couple of times a day). These little milestones are important in our quit, it is proof that our minds are becoming rewired without the nicotine, that we are finding out that we can really do thins and conquer the monster!!!!
  9. Lml, Glad you are seeing both the positives and negatives on the roller coaster of this ride. Gather strength from both it will help you down the road. As each day and crave goes by you will get stronger and feel better -- Keep strong your are doing well!!!!
  10. Great job on the 7 months, you are going strong now. Take time to celebrate

  16. Welcome aboard Suze, come along and enjoy this journey -- reach out and be entertained by the weird crew on this train...
  17. I love the daily NOPE also. At first I thought it might be a bit corny but I have come here every day to NOPE and I truly believe that it has helped me greatly, as well as checking in with you all.
  18. Thank you all. A funny thing, I usually am pretty aware of the length of my quit but I actually forgot that yesterday was my 4 month mark. That could be a good thing in a way since I am taking each day now and not thinking so much of smoking. Still keeping my guard though, those craves can sneak up on you.
  19. Well Saz much of my fog was very similar to yours though I believe it only lasted, in a strong sense of the word, a little less than 3 weeks. It took another couple of weeks to completely wave it off. Luckily I am retired so it did not affect me in making decisions or working. I do agree with you that it quite disarming, something that hit me hard at first and did not expect.
