Hello. My name is Barb, and I'm a nicotine addict
Wow! Today I was thinking about you as I have gained a ton and really I am having trouble closing my mouth. Plus it seems like when I do diet and exercise after I quit smoking the scales do not move. Nonsmoking? Menopause? More food? Any way I know you had gained weight after you quit but you decided to lose it and get fit. You have done a great job! So I think i can use you like a model? Any tips?

"It’s déjà vu all over again". Yogi Berra
Mike remember how you helped me quit. In between the numbers game on the other site and posting cats i spent all of my time fighting fighting. How did you make it through last time? What did you do when you were helping me? Does it not work any more?

Lung Cancer again!
You know perhaps that my mom has lung cancer. I have talked about smoking in front of the hospital while she was getting treatment. I knew it was revolting but I did it in shame because I had to as an addict. While I may get cancer one day, God forbid, I have quit now.

Withdrawl Problem
Just to chime in. I wonder how many people smoked to deal with emotional issues in some way, started smoking because of issues, etc. Certainly I have had various issues with addictive behaivor of different types over the years including smoking and food. And now with most of the little helpers gone I can struggle. I think this is common

starting over
Laura, why do you think you decided to smoke ? Was there anything you can pin point? .....The other day someone checked in here to tell us she had made it to nine months. I was so pleased to hear this because she had relapsed at least twice from what I knew and then started over a few times. I had not heard from her so I had wondered. But she was ok! She started over and won this time. So, you will too. May I suggest : Post every day the pledge. Spend a few minutes each day committing through posting here, reading, or other mindful quitting activities.

Evelyn lets Celebrate your 3 months, even thought your ticker is a wee bit wacky!
Evelyn, three months! You are a nonsmoker now in fact. You have beat the crap out of the demon. It is all maintenance and keeping up with it now just like all of us! Congrats
