  1. Top-shelf quit. Congratulations Hope2Nope.
  2. If Barney Fife were here, he would remind us that you can't mollycoddle this addiction. You gotta nip it...nip it in the bud!
  3. We took the kids to a Halloween block party yesterday. Heard this song a couple of times. Christmas has a bunch of songs. Halloween really only has this one...
  4. Now seems like a good time to post the two immutable rules for a successful quit... Rule #1: DON'T SMOKE! Rule #2: If you have any further questions, refer back to Rule #1.
  5. Welcome aboard Jaybird. Good call on giving up the smokes. Enjoy the ride.
  6. Special dedication going out to Jerry Lee...
  7. Contrary to earlier reports: Jerry Lee Lewis is not dead.
  8. Welcome aboard Pedro. Glad you found the Train.
  9. Fried okra. I know we had this debate on another thread and I was voted down by a resounding margin. However, I'm stubborn and refuse to concede defeat. Other options would be: fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits, beans and greens, banana pudding, and some genuine sweet tea.
  10. For the record, I was playing peek-a-boo with the boy at 3 a.m. this morning. Jackson has started waking up between two or three in the morning. Gets a diaper change and a bite to eat. Then it's right back to bed for the little fella...Nope. He wants to stay up and play for a while. All I can say is "well, bless your heart" to those people who suggest getting eight hours of uninterrupted sleep every night.
  11. Nobody ever has a clear answer for why we shouldn't swim in Reelfoot Lake. What are they hiding down there?
  12. Resting up from a big day down on the farm. Loaded up the Boo Crew and went to a Fall Festival / Halloween Spookfest. The kids made their public debut in their Halloween costumes. Maddie was a penguin. Jackson was a monkey. The monkey costume has a tail on it that is just long enough for Jackson to gnaw on it...and that's just what he did. Hayrides. Corn mazes. Trick or treating...Good times! Also learned something new about Sugar Britches today: she loves caramel apples. So if I talk my way into trouble in the future, I might be able to bribe my way back into her good graces with a simple caramel apple. These are the things a man needs to know.
  13. Good job Saz. This calls for something festive from down in your neck of the woods...
  14. Sitting alone with my thoughts. I read a couple of articles about the future of the petrodollar last night. Now, nobody wants to talk to me.
  15. The question is: when will you stop taking the calls? The thoughts of smoking are actually inconsequential. Our reaction to those thoughts is significant. I've thrown away quit attempts in the past because I allowed those thoughts to set up shop in my head and became obsessive to the point of lighting up again. More recently, I learned that those thoughts can be dismissed. It took practice and repetition but it can be done. Observe the thoughts for what they are and swat them away. You don't have to kill the beast; you only have to stop feeding it.
  16. Special dedication going out to my old friend The Right Reverend Vinbo. This song probably wasn't written about him, but it just as easily could have been.
  17. Don't want to rush things.... However, who's gonna paint the town red if we're not out there busting a move?
  18. Congratulations DenaliBlues. You're doing great.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
