  1. Hey guys, So...I've not smoked for 12 days now! I still think about smoking regularly but I don't consider it an option anymore thanks to you guys. The problem is that I feel so flat now... I literally don't even want to talk to or hang out with my girlfriend, the thought of taking phone calls makes me anxious and I just don't feel like the same person at work. I barely sleep either so that's probably why. The good news is that I've saved about $200 though which really feels good. Does anyone know if this is a normal part of a quit? I feel stupid posting this but I'm really worried. Cheers..

    Narcisissm

Crazy I've never personally dealt with any people this bad. I've come across some personalities that sound like narcissism but due to lack of interest in them or their personal life I merely refer to them as assholes.
  3. Well done Babs thanks for being here to offer your support, you're such a good example. :)
  4. From personal experience whenever there's feedback from the doctor about a health problem it usually, no always, links in some way to smoking. I'm sure when non-smokers go to a doctor they get a variety of answers to why they have a problem. When a smoker goes to the doctor the answer is almost always "stop smoking and take this medication." I'm not sure that the doctor's concern really sunk in as he's probably used to being told he should just stop smoking, but that's just guessing. Has he said what he thinks about it? Why do you think he's not taking it seriously?
  5. Thanks Ava! The feelings usually pass before I can put them into words but it's good to know people like you, Bat, Teary and others are here to give me something to think about when I get cravings and stop in to read. I've been quit for almost a week now and it feels great and a lot easier than my last time quitting since I am surrounded by positive people. I told my best friend, with whom I share a smoke every night after work, that I wasn't smoking anymore (around day 3), and his response was laughter followed by "I have no faith in you." Thanks for being here guys!
  6. Haha you sook. I honestly don't wanna be like one of those people who's like "oh yeah the book's way better than the movie, man." But honestly this book had so many intimate details and interesting scenarios that you couldn't replicate or fit into a script and I was just really let down by the screen adaptation. I'm not even much of a book person but this one I couldn't put down. If you decide to read it, let me know. I'll even post you my copy if you want since it's just collecting dust on my girlfriend's bedside table. She's even less of a book person.
  7. You should read the book "One Day", it'll pull you right in. The movie didn't do it any justice at all.
  8. Those are some pretty sucky triggers. At least you push yourself through them every day - pretty soon it will be that easy to say nope in any situation. Some of the videos posted in this thread though... :lol2:
  9. Hey, Michelle. Cheers for replying to my thread. I've read a few of your posts to be honest and I gotta say at least you have the balls to keep coming back and facing up to your mistakes to a bunch of veteran quitters! I'm also quitting today so feel free to message me about what's on your mind. I don't really like posting but I've logged in every day to read, sometimes more than once or twice and will most likely be around more now that I'm stopping. Just try to think about the fact that there's more important things to look forward to in life than a cigarette and "defend your quit." Good luck. :)
  10. Thanks for the kind messages. We have some talent for motivational speaking in this forum. I'm gonna make the leap and you'll hear about it when I do. Nice one, Bandito. Haha!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
