Today makes three and a half years since I quit smoking. The time has really gone by fast. I am enjoying every minute of it. That part of my life is in the past now. I am looking to the future. I have come too far to go back to that nasty habit. I am so proud of how far I have come.

I will be NOPIN!! in the wilderness at a beautiful lake doing some bonding with my granddaughter Millie. The group will be kayaking depending on how my heart handles it? Clean air at the base of Mt Baker. KTQ. Don't mess with my pickle...😎

Welcome back, @Britt! So glad that you are here and ready to break free of your nicotine addiction. We’re here to help by answering questions, by offering moral support through your ups and downs, and by distracting you with the occasional game, recipe or silly joke. Please keep us posted on how things are going!
  17. It's a good thing I'm not afflicted with triskaidekaphobia and an even better thing that I haven't been smoking the last 13 years! I've been thinking that our addiction to nicotine trained us to constantly respond to withdrawal. This site can help people to train themselves to quit. Constant repetition of NOPE is a good start. There is some heavy lifting involved early on but it gradually gets easier over time. Our quit muscles grow stronger every time we tell ourselves that smoking is not an option. We find that we are a lot stronger than we thought we were. Training myself to quit and stay quit is one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm now retired and happy about it. I'm finding new things to interest me and enjoy that. My last patent is pending and should issue soon. Janet723 is doing well and is helping our granddaughter buy a house. We have traveled some and have plans to do more.

Great decision! Do whatever it takes to get through the early tough days and get yourself free from nicotine addiction. You never have to feel alone in your journey. Reach out as needed for support along the way. Check in and give status reports. It's very doable. You can do it! You are worth it!

Welcome @Britt and well done for making the best decision you'll ever make! 😊 You've mentioned you've previously been here, that's great so you'll know that everyone here is supportive and there are lots of threads you can read to help you. I'd recommended pledging NOPE each day if you think it'll help! 😊 Wishing you all the strength and determination you need! 💪

  23. Gday 13 years….. Got to be happy with that!
  24. Congratulations! 🥳
  25. Happy Lucky #13 @Paul723!! So glad that you’re living your best smoke free life!!
  26. We can't say for sure but one reason you've been able to enjoy some of those things you mentioned doing in retirement was likely due in part at least to quitting. I know I've spent $$ travelling since I retired that otherwise would have been spent of cigs. That's just one of many things that makes quitting such a great idea!
  27. Congratulations 👏 🎉 on 13 years smoke free, Paul. That is awesome 👍 😎

Hi @Britt & welcome to the best quit smoking support forum there is! I truly hope you make it in your journey to quit because being quit is the best thing ever!!! It's hard in the initial stages but very doable with committment & self discipline along the way. We've all been there where you are so we have all been through what you'll be experiencing. We've all dealt with the lows points in quitting and the very high point which is being successful in achieving your goal. You're quitting for a reason; or reasons so keep those reasons in mind when you're challenged by withdrawals. Come to the site often and don't hesitate to communicate, ask questions (there's no dumb questions) or just come on here to vent when needed. We're all here to help where we can. See you around!
  29. Thirteen Years is Awesome! Keep enjoying your Freedom!
  30. Nope first day!
  31. Congratulations @Paul723 🥳 Well done on an impressive 13 years smoke free! 😊
  32. Dinner with the kid... Greek herb marinate lamb steaks (portobello mushies for me), mash with nutritional yeast, honey carrots and spinach with lemon myrtle and macadamia nuts. I made a gravy from the pan juices for the kid.
