It's a good thing I'm not afflicted with triskaidekaphobia and an even better thing that I haven't been smoking the last 13 years! I've been thinking that our addiction to nicotine trained us to constantly respond to withdrawal. This site can help people to train themselves to quit. Constant repetition of NOPE is a good start. There is some heavy lifting involved early on but it gradually gets easier over time. Our quit muscles grow stronger every time we tell ourselves that smoking is not an option. We find that we are a lot stronger than we thought we were. Training myself to quit and stay quit is one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm now retired and happy about it. I'm finding new things to interest me and enjoy that. My last patent is pending and should issue soon. Janet723 is doing well and is helping our granddaughter buy a house. We have traveled some and have plans to do more.

Hi @Britt & welcome to the best quit smoking support forum there is! I truly hope you make it in your journey to quit because being quit is the best thing ever!!! It's hard in the initial stages but very doable with committment & self discipline along the way. We've all been there where you are so we have all been through what you'll be experiencing. We've all dealt with the lows points in quitting and the very high point which is being successful in achieving your goal. You're quitting for a reason; or reasons so keep those reasons in mind when you're challenged by withdrawals. Come to the site often and don't hesitate to communicate, ask questions (there's no dumb questions) or just come on here to vent when needed. We're all here to help where we can. See you around!

Great decision! Do whatever it takes to get through the early tough days and get yourself free from nicotine addiction. You never have to feel alone in your journey. Reach out as needed for support along the way. Check in and give status reports. It's very doable. You can do it! You are worth it!

Welcome @Britt and well done for making the best decision you'll ever make! You've mentioned you've previously been here, that's great so you'll know that everyone here is supportive and there are lots of threads you can read to help you. I'd recommended pledging NOPE each day if you think it'll help! Wishing you all the strength and determination you need!
