May 30, 20179 yr Off on another holiday tomorrow, my last one was only 4 days into my quit (a month ago now) and I was relatively successful. I had 6 cigarettes in the whole week!. Since then I have not smoked, but now going on holiday again with the same group of people, however now i have been "clean" for a lot longer I hope this time I will not fall down. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks Julian
May 30, 20179 yr Jules..my Good man...it's all about positive attitude.. Your a fabulous non smoker..you don't smoke no matter what... Doing worry your smoking friends will be envying you ..every smoker wants to quit.. Feel proud..and guard your quit..
May 30, 20179 yr And.... Just say.. N.O.P.E Don't put anything in your mouth and set it on fire and you will succeed in maintaining your non-smoker status! :) You have been through the worst... Don't do anything stupid now and have to go back to day one! Like Doreen said.... You (as a non-smoker) ARE the envy of your smoking friends... They wish they could rock a quit like you are! Now.... Go have some smoke-free good times !! :D
May 30, 20179 yr Yes Jules, set this as a challenge for yourself. You're going on holiday and your main goal is to not smoke this time - NOPE! Think about the things you can do when friends light up. You know it will happen so think about things you can do yourself when they decide to smoke. As Joe said, you've do the very worst of the quit now. You don't want to have to do that again and even one smoke will put you back to the start. Think about how that will make you feel at this stage - it's will be very disappointing to you. You're finally doing what you really wanted to do - quitting smoking :) Use the tools you have in your early quit process and apply them now again while your on holiday. We'll be waiting to hear about your "smoke-free" holiday. Have fun!
May 30, 20179 yr NO HOPE! Just do! You will come back from Holiday a non smoker still but one PUFF would change all that so....DON"T and enjoy your holiday smoke free~!
May 30, 20179 yr Guess what? You don't smoke anymore so don't! You can do this! Never take another puff NO MATTER WHAT.
May 30, 20179 yr I hope this time I will not fall down. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks Don't fall down. You have all the power. Cigarettes only have the power you give them. The choice is yours...it always was and always will be. Forget hope. Remember NOPE.
June 9, 20179 yr I was just wondering about you today Jules... I'm so happy and proud to hear ..you stayed smoke free.. Youv,e got this..brilliant..
June 10, 20179 yr Nice job Jules!! That's the way you do it. You are a non smoker now so smoking is off the table completely. Proud of you :) Keep up the good work!
June 10, 20179 yr Author it was not too bad, easier than i thought considering the group contained several smokers, what i found strange and helpful is how bad smoking is now considered in the UK, having not been back for 3 years it was very strange. Even at duty free the cigarettes are hidden away in a separate room at the airport, and now all the packets are the same, so I guess people can smoke there richmond without looking cheap!!! After my previous holiday thought this one would be difficult but it was fairly easy.... got to keep this going now. I am still on the patches but now on the lowest ones and have another week of them. Couple of times i have actually forgotten to put on the patch and not realised until the next day!, but still keeping with them as i have been recommended to complete the course. Thanks for all you help guys and gals J
June 10, 20179 yr Up and onwards Jules !!! I'm in the U.K...ya all our cigfs are hidden now ,even in supermarkets..all the same packaging .. With bad grafic pictures..I am so thankful I quit..and so will you ...I promise...
June 10, 20179 yr You're doing great Jules! Just keep it going now. You have a lot invested at this point so let's make this one permanent!
