May 10, 20179 yr Was walking through the terminal, headed to the parking garage. Got to the garage and felt like something was missing, or I forgot something. That weird feeling you know. Anyway, then I realized oh yeah, you would smoke right now. It wasn't a crave or anything just that something is off feeling. When I realized it was no cig I kind of chuckled, was thankful I wasn't smoking and headed on my way. Really starting to feel comfortable with my quit right now. Need to be vigilant and ensure my comfort doesn't trick me into thinking I've got this. Still a lot of work to do. But I got this.
May 10, 20179 yr I had that a lot when I went outside to mow the lawn or do any type of yard work. You do got this.. .Like a Boss Keep on keepin on
May 10, 20179 yr Even after most of the cravings and obsessive thoughts had passed, I would still reach for the phantom cigarette from time-to-time. Years of conditioning will take a bit of time to undo. In fact for the first six-weeks or so, I was walking around like one of Pavlov's dogs. That little bell in my head would ring and I would instinctively reach for a cigarette that wasn't there. All a part of the process.
May 11, 20179 yr I was actually having a intense urge and I realized it is now 6 months I know someone on the boards mentioned 3,6,9 were tough. The good thing is work is so busy don't have time to think about it. And I just keep saying you don't smoke.... I guess it takes a real long time to forget the ingrained habits that make us reach for the imaginary smokes or the urge to get up and go outside for a break.
May 11, 20179 yr That's great that you're already feeling comfortable with your quit, Rob! Unfortunately, it took me much longer...months, in fact. Keep up the great work! :)
