A couple of weeks ago I was going through some old boxes in the basement and found my old humidor 1/2 full of cigars, most of which were Rockey Patel's.  We had our first outdoor fire today so I decided to dispose of them when everybody came in the house for coffee.  I dumped them out of the humidor into the fire and walked away.  At $10-18 per stick, I burned a lot of money today but better to burn that crap in a fire than in my lungs.  They were probably from 2011 or so.  Yuck.

Well done, how did it feel doing that, was it hard or were you happy doing it, you should have sold them and got a few bob for them instead!!

My wife looked at me like I was insane and was pissed that I burned them all.  She said the least I could do was give them to somebody to who smokes cigars and I said nope.  I'm not going to contribute to anybody smoking.  She thought I was nuts but had totally forgotten about them for the last 3 years.

 

It didn't bother me a bit.  I got more enjoyment tossing them to instant destruction than just crumbling them up and tossing them in the trash.  Boring. ;)

I have a Humidor 2 feet from my right hand, full of Cuban cigars and, I think, a few packs of cigarettes bought for La Bandita (a brand she does not like)

 

I have to say, I had forgotten all about them until I read this.

 

We never threw them away on quit day because not smoking was, for us, a choice. If we want to smoke, we will smoke.

 

I think La Bandita even argued that having them there helped her quit.

I would have done same thing. BUT I never liked cigars. Any packs I ever had when I quit I had to soak in water, tear up and bury in trash. Or I would have pieced them back together two days later. Not this quit, NOPE and walked away.

I bet it took a while for those to burn... lol

 

My husb used to smoke the occasional cigar, and he'd buy the expensive ones... shocking what some of them cost!

The Sarge is thinking a good shredding in a blender, an overnight soaking water, then frozen into a block of ice, and finally ... say ... dropped in a 55 gallon drum of muriatic acid. That would do it just about right.  :)
