April 2, 201412 yr Lol not those parts you dirty people, Just thinking would it be possible to have a private section/thread that members could only see, I'd like to get to know people better and share my highs lows etc in life but I don't because the world and his brother can read it and for sharing pics of holidays, my kids and all that jazz, I never put pictures up because too many strangers will see them, Anyway is it at all possible to have a private members club??

April 2, 201412 yr Sue, I think the issue is quite complicated. Me, I'll share pretty much anything. So it is simple. But if you are worried about access, let's face it, signing up as a member is pretty straightforward. So a private area provides a little protection, but not very much to be honest. In reality, if it is on the internet, it is there forever. Personally, I think that people get very worried about it, but in my experience there are bad people offline and online. Do you use Facebook?
April 2, 201412 yr On a golf forum that I frequent, there is a sub forum called the Debate Room. This is where contentious topics live. Gun threads for example. To access the debate room you have to sign up and acknowledge that things may get a little more heated, not out of control, but a bit more heated. Mods can move threads that are heating up into there. That works quite well.

Tis just an idea, nay bother if nobody is into it x
April 2, 201412 yr I like this idea too. It could be useful if you wanted to vent about such and such happening, but don't necessarily want Mr. Troll or Ms. Banned or even a guest to read it. It would still be smart to use common sense and not divulge anything too personal. I'm curious though, would Google be able to index those posts?

Mike hit Ctrl+ a few times on his keyboard and fell out of his chair. lol She was only wearing a hat, nothing else. Was up for about 3 or 4 days I think before Mike couldn't stop telling people. lol!!
April 3, 201412 yr Would this "members' only" area be mostly about non-smoking issues? The reason I ask is because I know a lot of people "lurk" and read a lot before they make the decision to quit smoking and I wouldn't want the guests to miss out on all of the knowledge that you guys bring to the boards. Let's keep discussing as I think this definitely has some benefits.

It would be a better place to share more personal information... and I really agree with the pics too!! I know nothing is safe.. but it would be nice to know that people viewing the information actually had to sign in and register.

If there are any smoking related topics & it's nothing personal, we'll move them to the quit smoking board so it can help the guests. Okay, we'll do this. What do you want to call the new board? April 3, 201412 yr In a few hours when I get home from work, I'll create this forum and we'll call it "Off The Record". Only members will be able to see that it exists and have access to it. If you guys think of any better titles, post'em here. Another option we have, because some people may join just to get access to it which would defeat the purpose, is I can create the forum and password protect it and members would have to PM me or one of the mods to get the password and then we can check IP addresses and make sure intentions are good if it's a member that myself or the mods are not familiar with. This may be the way to go just to add an extra layer of security. What do you guys think?
April 3, 201412 yr Author Yep that sounds perfect, thanks a mill and it wouldn't be used for smoking related topics, I just would use it to get to know others and likewise others me (if yis want) and soo I can post pics and stuff aswell, I never do on open forums so this would be fab, good man, I'm loving "off the record" ;)))))
