Hi my name is Brian I had my last smoke at 5 o'clock yesterday evening and started step 1 nicotine patches so far so good. I'm so glad I found this place and all the great people here. NOPE!

Hi Brian!

Welcome to the train! 😀 So glad you found us because we are a great group of non smokers, from newbies like yourself to several who are quit for a decade plus, and everything in between.  My advice that I give to all newbies is to come on here every day and do the daily Nope pledge, which I see you have done already today.  I have been quit for over 2 years and I still do it every day because I find it keeps me focused.  Quitting is not easy, that's for sure, but with support and information you can definitely do it!! Read all you can on here as there is a ton of information and videos.  If you feel you are gonna smoke, there is an SOS section.  Since we are a group from all over the world, there is usually someone on at all times to help you get through it.

Good luck to you and I look forward to seeing you on here!  You can do this!!👍

Don't know your smoking history (ie if you have "tried" to quit before) or anything about you so I can't really offer specific advice for you BUT ... I will say that quitting may not be easy for us but it absolutely IS doable and is worth whatever angst we have to go through to reach our forever smobriety.   Ask questions as needed.  Post to the community & wait for three responses if you feel you are on the verge of smoking.  You can quit & stay quit.   Believe it!  Best Wishes!

Welcome Brian.  You are doing a great thing in quitting smoking.  Stick around, there's a lot of knowledge and support you can get here.

Welcome aboard! You’ll have some bumpy times, but there is sweet freedom awaiting you on the other side. You can do this!

Hi Brian and Welcome, it’s good to see you here.

If you stay focussed, stay busy, stay determined, take it a day at a time, and treat yourself weekly or monthly, be active here, post regularly, you can be successful in your quit.

make sure you want this, more than you want to smoke.

all the best …

Hi Benny here. I messed up my first quit and decided to do a herbal thing with mesdoxan its day two and it's going smooth. I'm 47 now I've smoked since I was around 12.

Hang in there. It can be tough but well worth it. Stay busy and try not to focus on it too much. Easier said than done but hang in there and you can do this, Best wishes.

It's definitely not easy, but it is doable as you can see here.  Whatever works for you, but you have to stick with it!  Just don't smoke!  Get rid of the cigs, matches, lighters, ashtrays....all of it!!!  You don't want to be tempted. You can do it!  Come on here and vent to us whenever you need to.  You will get a lot of support!!  Good luck!!👍

Glad you’re still sitting on the train …

Day 4 feeling strong. Just threw away all my smoking paraphernalia it felt very liberating. Feels great to be on the train.

Great Job @Benny smokeout !

You're through hell week and now one day into WTF week. The first three or four weeks are really the toughest and where you learn all your coping skills (or not for some). You seem to be coping really well. Remember, as the cravings and what not start to become less intense and less frequent to always be on guard mentally. One thing this addiction is really good at is bushwhacking you later on when you least expect it. I think the reason for that is your addiction figures if it lets you think you've beaten it then you'll let your guard down a bit. Then wham, it hits you big time outta the blue thinking you'll cave in more easily. Just store that info. in you mind and be ready at all times with a plan to fight those sudden urges. I think the last one I had that I cam really close to caving was at about the 6 week mark of my quit. Of course we're all different so you just need to be mentally prepared at all times.

Other than that ... carry on to Freedom!

Hey Benny ! Congratulations on making the best decision of your life (or one of the top).

Educate yourself, there is a plethora of materials here. Once you know the facts, smoking becomes abhorrent and more easily discarded.

It may not be easy at first but, I know it is easier than dying from an endless list of preventable diseases and ailments.

Reward yourself, you are doing a great thing.
