Good morning and Happy Friday everyone!

Yesterday, I had a lot of people giving me negative feedback about their issues. I felt like I was the complaints department ... lMAO.

I just tried to keep a positive focus and redirect. What were they doing about it? Trying to shift their mindset to a solutions based focus.

This reminds me of our mission to keep our quits. We all struggle at times and we all give feedback to others who are struggling.

What are we doing to protect our quits? Practice relapse prevention? Support newbies?

I like this Practice Model: Solution-Focused Approach ... and the question, what is helping YOU to cope and get through these tough times? What is helping you to keep  your quit?

Good morning!   Doing well thanks, Gene.  I don't get many urges anymore and I don't think of smoking too much either.  A definite difference from a year ago! 😃

Good morning!

Gene, do you find that your cravings are becoming a bit less after a month and a half quit?  Even though I still felt a lot of cravings at the month and a half mark, they definitely were less than the first couple of weeks. You can do it!!!👍

HI @QuittingGirl... yes, the cravings are all psychological at this point. Thanks for your support.

Good morning.

Its going to be a big work week for me.  On Wednesday, my organization is hosting its annual Harvest of Hope Charity Dinner and Auction event. We have been working on this event for over six months. It raises money for our community programs. I am a little nervous going into this event and excited at the same time! :)

Been getting ready for a trip the wife & I are going on tomorrow! All that last minute stuff to be done before leaving. Things get a little stressful as time gets short but once on the plane, time to relax and start to enjoy! Unfortunately, won't be able to check back in for awhile as I'll have limited access to social media while away. Take care everyone and Keep those prescious quits!!!

Hi @Reciprocity.... looking forward to hearing about your vacation when you return. Hope you had lots of fun and adventure. :)

Best of luck with your big event, Gene! Meetings and special events are so stressful, aren’t they? Equal parts aggravating and energizing. Hope it goes great. K T Q!

Good morning.

I'm happy to report that my gala fundraising dinner was a very successful. The room was packed, the food was awesome and there was lots of networking in the room. And guests were very generous bidding on our many live auction items. Now I feel like I can breath again. :):)

Happy Thursday.

Hello everyone. I haven’t been very active on the site lately. Helene spawned a tornado that struck my neighborhood and I still have 3 trees on my house. Trying to deal with the lack thereof of FEMA and the power company and finding someone that actually meant it when they said let me know if you need anything is extremely stressful. No thought of smoking is a silver lining but man, I never knew a body could contain so many tears. I want to go home and I don’t want other people’s insensitivity to pain me so much. I just want to go home. Sorry to dump on you guys, just stressed and realized that I hadn’t taken the time to check in on everyone. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Ohhh I'm so very sorry to hear this @Gus I saw the devastation from the hurricane! I hope that everything gets taken care of for you very soon! 🙏 We had Hurricane Sandy back in 2012 but thankfully my block was ok but most of my area was flooded and without electric.  I'm so glad you aren't smoking!! At least one positive is happening now!  Hang in there and come and vent to us whenever you need to!

Man @Gus, I'm sorry you got hit so bad by Helene. I hope you find the help you need to get back home soon. I'm glad smoking is a non issue as you have enough to deal with! I'm sending hugs and positive thoughts your way gus.......

Oh Gus, how heartbreaking!! To be at the mercy of the elements and other people, and to be coping with such a loss... If you lived here, I would do your laundry, help you hound the cleanup crews, and tuck you in to our guest room with a cuddly kitty and a box of kleenex. Sending you love and strength.

Sorry to hear this @Gus  I hope you get the help you need soon.  Helene was awlful.

@Gus .. sorry you're dealing with this. Not much i can do from down here but srnding prsyers and energy that you get the help you need soon and your back home. 🫂

in the big scheme of things my current hardship is nothing. Dealing with the kid having an emotional crisis has never been a strong point. Not being able to fix her problems always makes me feel like I'm failing.

My kids best friend at TAFE is a missing person, has been for over 3 weeks. His family didn't report it for 2 weeks. The kid has had to deal with police questioning on her own (18 now) and it's been a tough week. So many hours at night searching for him in the hopes she can flush him out or trying to convince her its not because she missed a sign or clue. Mental health sucks people, ask your mates R U OK? And be there to listen if they need.

But in a week full of way more downs than ups my little niece miss3 told me her new knock mock joke..

Knock knock

Who's there?

Imabig and itsa

Imabig and itsa who?

I'm a big sister and it's a boy!

So after 2.5 years of ivf baby #2 is on his way. And so the cycle of life continues.

@notsmokinjo, first off you should never feel like a failure because you're an awesome mom. You've always put birdie first and done some pretty cool things for her like the makeup jobs she asks of you. Teens have drama and everything is always the end of the world in their eyes. However the fact that her best friend is missing has got to be stressful, again no failure on your part. I'm sending prayers your way that he'll be found safe and sound so birdie can bless him out for scaring everybody so much.

Congratulations on your soon to be born nephew 🤗😊

Gosh, you’re really grappling with a lot, Jo! Sending love and fortitude your way.

I am at a 5 today. I'm thinking about what I need to do to move up to a 6 or 6. Where are you today?

@notsmokinjo Girl, you are a great mom! I’ve seen so many of your posts over the years and you are so strong. Just sympathize with your daughter. Let her know your heart breaks for her and her friend. One of life’s many lessons is accepting that hands that can do so much good in so many ways sometimes seem useless, broken, or weak. I’m sorry your daughter has to go through this. The anguish she must be feeling must be awful.  I’m thankful that your niece was such a ray of sunshine by announcing such wonderful news in so lighthearted of a way. I hope that things are a little brighter for you all today.

Update: I got the $750 FEMA was issuing to practically everyone affected by Helene. Yesterday, I received an additional $1800 to get the tree off of my house. I still have so many trees that need to be cleaned up. I’m considering applying for an SBA loan also to help take care of this. I’m short on time and just really don’t know a lot about it. I figured I would apply and see what they offer. I can always decline. I just WANT and NEED to go home. Thanks everyone for the kind words. This has been such a slow process with hardly any progress.
