Not much i can do from down here but srnding prsyers and energy that you get the help you need soon and your back home. 🫂 in the big scheme of things my current hardship is nothing. Dealing with the kid having an emotional crisis has never been a strong point. Not being able to fix her problems always makes me feel like I'm failing. My kids best friend at TAFE is a missing person, has been for over 3 weeks. His family didn't report it for 2 weeks. The kid has had to deal with police questioning on her own (18 now) and it's been a tough week. So many hours at night searching for him in the hopes she can flush him out or trying to convince her its not because she missed a sign or clue. Mental health sucks people, ask your mates R U OK? And be there to listen if they need. But in a week full of way more downs than ups my little niece miss3 told me her new knock mock joke.. Knock knock Who's there? Imabig and itsa Imabig and itsa who? I'm a big sister and it's a boy! So after 2.5 years of ivf baby #2 is on his way. And so the cycle of life continues. Hi @notsmokinjo.... has your kids best friend been found? Hoping for the very best outcome. Kind Regards, Gene

Yesterday, I received an additional $1800 to get the tree off of my house. I still have so many trees that need to be cleaned up. I’m considering applying for an SBA loan also to help take care of this. I’m short on time and just really don’t know a lot about it. I figured I would apply and see what they offer. I can always decline. I just WANT and NEED to go home. Thanks everyone for the kind words. This has been such a slow process with hardly any progress. Happy to hear that you are receving some FEMA help @Gus and hoping you can get home soon. Edited October 31, 20241 yr by Genecanuck

December 8, 20241 yr Not sure where I would put this post so Doreen or Jill please move it, if it doesn't go in this section. Anyway, I wanted to mention something good that happened last night. Last night my husband and I went out for dinner and on our way out to go home there were people smoking in front of the restaurant. I didn't really notice, but my husband did and he said to me, look at those people smoking. I turned and looked, and said, yup that used to be us but it isn't anymore. 😃 I didn't even notice them smoking so that is really good. But, I sure do remember those days standing out in the cold or rainy weather smoking. I'm so glad I don't do that anymore!!💪👍 After I eat I don't think about smoking, which is great because I think my after dinner cig used to be my favorite. I hope everyone is having a great Sunday! 😁
December 8, 20241 yr Great post QG Sorry we carnt move it to the Main Board which is where I think it should have been It’s been great following your journey Well done 🐸

It's the most valued thing I've gained from quitting, as I suspect may be the case for many! Under stressful situations, after completing a task, or a seasonal trigger ... we no longer have to worry about lighting up in those situations. It's just no longer a part of our lives!

December 9, 20241 yr Author Good morning, I have been feeling... off... not sure what is going on with me emotionally. Just had lots of change this year. Death of former partner, re-location, new job, and a new relationship. Life feels a bit surreal with lots of loss and change. I will be ok. Cheers, Gene
December 9, 20241 yr Hi, Gene. It sounds like you are coping with a lot. A similar thing happened to me early in my own quit: I got slammed by multiple deaths in my family over a short time span. Plus there are the losses of quitting smoking, too. Despite how terrible smoking is and my deep ambivalence toward it, I still missed it and felt deeply unmoored and sad through the first several months of my quit. So I went through a grieving process about that, too. It was a new experience to go thru hard times without the crutch of smoking to emotionally withdraw or pickle my feelings. But it got better. I suppose that coping with feelings more directly is part of the healing and recovery process as we become nonsmokers. In any case, hang in there! Sending hugs your way.
