September 18, 201411 yr Author Tracey, You CAN make a difference. It all has to start somewhere. I have a hard time volunteering at our shelter. I cannot bear to see the all the animals, who just want to feel loved. And I am the type that will bring them all home. One at a time, mind you. Our shelter is a no-kill shelter and operates on donations. They use Facebook to ask for donations and to spotlight dogs who need homes. It works pretty well for them. For instance, on Tuesday, they will announce on Facebook that it's $2 Tuesday, and ask everyone to please drop off a $2 donation. Everyone can come up with $2, right? When they run low on cat litter they ask if folks will please just drop off a bag or two of litter. Just some ideas on how our local shelter is surviving when things get rough. hey sandy thats cool are you a volunteer or work at the shelter, either way would be great to pick your brains i feel so much better getting proactive, im going to start a fundraising on the internet then i can do it when back in the UK too i have started my blog and am going to attach a donation site to it later down the line i will send the link later I have started the blog but have lots to catch up on im going to rob all my friends :) going to work with the shelter too on the fund raising i will speak to them about it tommorow i think bikini car wash is out though ;)

I do help out when I can though. I'm also a supporter of organizations to educate people about puppy mills. I'm embarrassed and sad to say that my home state, Iowa, is 2nd in the nation with number of puppy mills. :( lol on the bikini car wash  I will pm you a link to our local shelter. It may give you some ideas to get started. Good luck!
