The first rule of nap club is you don't talk about nap club.

If Sugar Britches or I mention that it's time for a nap, Maddie will resist.  If she decides on her own that it's time for a nap, she will stand in front of me and raise her arms straight up.  I pick her up, and carry her into her bedroom...easy and completely drama free.

It's not so much a question of to nap or not to nap, it's mostly a matter of who decides when it's time for a nap.

She's strong-willed and stubborn, just like her mother.  Sugar Britches tells a different story, but she's not here so we're going with my side of the story.

Had a Maddie-Daddy Fun Day yesterday.

Sugar Britches was tending to some important business so I had Maddie for the day.  I had a couple of things at work I needed to do.  Finished up with that, then showed Maddie around.  I took her for a ride on a forklift and we went up and down on a scissor lift in the warehouse.  Finished out our day at "work" by building a fort with a bunch of empty boxes.  Stumpy and Randy were all too happy to take time out from their jobs and help with the building of the fort.

A friend of mine is a firefighter at a local station.  He told me to bring Maddie by anytime he was there.  Went to the firehouse and Maddie got to play in a firetruck.  They turned the sirens on for her.  She even got to blow the horn.  As a parting gift, the firemen gave Maddie a little firefighter's helmet.

We ate lunch at Chick-fil-A.  That's one of Maddie's favorite restaurants.  In large part because they have a playground there.

Sugar Britches is a great mother but clearly "Da-Da" is the fun parent.

I feel ripped off.... no box forts when I visited my dads work, but Stumpy and Sticks did show me how the still in the storeage cupboard worked.

Gotta give a shout out to Miss Maddie.  I was just writing about what a good baby Jackson is.  Miss Maddie has quickly turned into a great big sister.

We were a bit worried that there might be some jealousy on Maddie's part having to share time with another little one.  Come to find out Maddie is totally secure in her standing around here; she knows she's a big deal.  Maddie tries to include Jackson in the things she enjoys.  She shows him various toys and colors pictures for him.  Maddie even narrates videos for Jackson.  She was watching one of her penguin videos and kept saying "Baby Jack, dat" and "Baby Jack, ook."

Maddie is a little sweetheart.

Maddie had a blast on the water this weekend.  We spent most of the weekend up on Watts Bar Lake.  The little gal wasted no time in reacclimating to the water.  She would jump off the back deck of the pontoon boat, swim to the ladder (with a bit of assistance from Da-Da), and do it again...and again...and again.

Then I drove her around on a WaveRunner.  She loved that.  A couple of times I stopped to point something out to her, she wasn't having it.  Started reaching for the throttle; Maddie has a need for speed.

Jackson took it easy, mostly napping in shady spots.  A good time was had by all.

Love it !!!!!

Debated on whether this was a post for this thread or the "Redneck or Genius" thread.

On Memorial Day we had visitors over to the house.  Some of whom have little ones of their own.  Maddie's friend Betsy was there as well as a particularly rambunctious three year-old named Nolan.

Hopefully, we will have the pool dug and ready to go by this time next year.  In the meantime, I made a homemade water slide.  Took a big blue tarp that I had in the garage.  Staked it down on a hill.  Sprayed it down with a garden hose.  Also took a bucket full of water with some dishwashing detergent in it and poured that down the tarp...so the kids could get up a bit more speed.  This was a full service slide.  One of the other father's stood at the top of the hill with the hose and I would pick the kids up at the bottom of the hill and give them a ride back to the top in the UTV.

Water slides.  Rides in an off-road vehicle.  Sugar Britches made banana splits for everybody.  Come on down to Boo Acres, we've got the fun!

Our Princess is definitely a Genius ....Takes after you ...

What a fabulous super slide .....it sounded so much fun ...

I thought I heard alot of chuckles ....now I know if was coming from the Boonaza Ranch ...👍😁🐸

Maddie put in her first day on the job today.

Sugar Britches and my mother-in-law took the kids out for the day.  They stopped by a nursery and Maddie jumped right into action.  The folks working there let her help water some flowers and arrange some small pots.  There were a couple of other ladies there looking around.  Maddie was adamant that they should buy the flowers she watered and helped with.  She pointed at the flowers and babbled a bit.  When it was explained that she had helped, the ladies bought some of those flowers.  A couple of weeks shy of turning two and already closing deals.

For her efforts, and presumably a commission on her sales, the couple that runs the nursery gave her a garden gnome holding a fishing pole.  Maddie pointed at the gnome and said "da-da."  I'm hoping it was because of the fishing pole and not that I'm starting to resemble a gnome.

Miss Maddie is quite the little angler.  Caught her first fish over the weekend.  A bluegill on one of the ponds at mom and dad's farm.  She had a bit of assistance from da-da and paw-paw.  However, she did choose the bait used: a chartreuse plastic grub with sparkles.  Let a two year-old girl pick a bait and you better hope that the brightest and most sparkly bait in the tackle box works.  Fortunately, it rained early in the day so the water conditions were just right for Maddie's bright baits.  The little gal kept a close eye on the bobber and when she got a bite, she informed us that she had a "FISH!"  My dad helped set the hook, but Maddie did all of the reeling.  She was quite proud of herself.

Maddie also took in her first fireworks show.  In spite of the show running well past her bedtime, she stayed alert and clapped at every big firework that went off.  Jackson, on the other hand, slept right through the show...that boy could sleep through a tornado.

We also got in some pool time and went to the lake.  Maddie got to ride around on a WaveRunner, she really enjoys that.

It was a busy but fun weekend for the Boo Crew.

Sounds like an awesome weekend for the boo crew. Big congrats to little miss Maddie on her very first fish😊

I've caught a lot of fish over the years.  Trout, Bass, Stripers, etc., etc..  Caught a big tarpon on a fly rod down in Florida one time.

However, my new favorite fishing memory involves Miss Maddie catching a small bluegill in a farm pond.

Having kids changes a man.

I still remember being with my son when he caught his first fish - a Sunfish 😁 That was quite awhile ago yet it still stands out in my mind too!

You lose track of 'em for one second...

Climbing on the furniture is nothing new around here.  Maddie has been experimenting and exploring for a while.  Last night Maddie ended up in Jackson's crib with him.  She used a chair to get up on the table, but the real mystery is how she made it over the headboard and into the crib.  The only thing I can figure is that she used her feet on the wall to push herself up and over.  It's either that or she has far more upper body strength than I thought she had.

With an energetic two year-old in the house, any threat of boredom is long gone.

Maddie caught another bluegill yesterday and added a largemouth bass to her fishing resume.  It was a little bass, but she's a little girl.  Our little country girl has really taken a liking to fishing.  We took a short break from fishing during a brief rain that rolled through.  Maddie didn't want to leave, so we compromised and took cover in the nearest barn.  She climbed around on a tractor and a square bail of hay in the barn...like I said, she's right at home down on the farm.

And Miss Maddie is learning another outdoors skill: turkey calling.  My dad showed her how to use box turkey call.  She was so amused by it that my dad let her have it.  On the drive home, it sounded like we had a really excited turkey in the backseat.  The fact that Jackson still fell asleep is further proof that the boy can sleep through anything.

Aww ...What a great fun weekend had by all....

Maddie is getting to be a good fisherwoman ....can just imagine the excitement seeing a fish on the end of the line ...

What a great carefree life ....❤️
