The 8am NHC update.  Looks like, as predicted, the storm has slowed (1mph) which gets it ready for a turn North.

Afternoon model trends for #Dorian: Not much change, with a track just offshore of Florida continuing to be the most likely outcome,

with the threat of a landfall in the Carolinas.

Still ~48 hours (2 days) of wobble-watching left. A more direct impact on FL cannot be ruled out.

 

 

 

The catastrophe that is Dorian is trying to move away from Grand Bahama. 

We'll see how close she scours Florida's coast and then ?

Thanks @jillar.   Florida family is Gulf side so they are spared this go around.  I'm far enough in from Atlantic to just worry about outer bands and winds.   Stay safe @johnny5 and all y'all living on east coast/SE

Hurricane is not leaving Grand Bahama. Been there since yesterday evening.  Unbelievable.

#Dorian's eyewall is open on west side. This may change.

The left, land-facing side may get beefier w/ time.

So far, ocean heat fluxes have come from south side & rotated around to make east side strong.

Tonight & tmrw, fluxes will come from north side, making west side strong

 

 

This is the first I've seen #SAR instruments using satellite borne radar to see flooded areas though clouds.

This is a sobering view of #GrandBahamas earlier today. #Dorian's storm surge is evident over the north side.

Figured we head to Jax Beach and check it out before they decide to close it or not. Took a few pics and a video. In the pic you can see the divide of blue sky and the that huge cloud that stretched down the rest of the beach. 

 

 

Wow @hellkatbaby, that's some scary clouds! I was watching the live tracker of Dorian on the weather channel and some dumbass was getting pounded by waves while reporting 😄😄

So glad to see it's course moved offshore more. Here's hoping the Carolinas and Georgia have the same luck

Sending prayers to all caught up in the devastating path of this Hurricane.....in my thoughts x

My mother in Atlantic Canada is gonna get whacked by what ever is left of this thing. Looks like Sat evening or night. Likely just heavy rain and winds by that point. Power outage will be her biggest concern I expect. That and the potential of trees falling on her house. Her property is pretty heavily treed. We'll see what happens.
