  10. @Ray1198, the cravings are going to be horrible in the beginning, we aren't going to tell you that it won't. But, what we will tell you, is the longer you don't smoke, the less the cravings will become. We can promise you that! You have quit so many times and each time when you went back you had the horrible cravings! Quit now, don't go back and you won't ever get the cravings again!! Nobody was more addicted to cigs than I was, so if I can do it, anyone can!! Take my advice about the cinnamon sticks and visiting this board every day as well as every other person's advice on this forum! YOU CAN DO IT RAY!!! You really can!!!
  11. Congratulations Mac! 5 years is really amazing! All the best to you and thanks so much for all your help in those difficult days in the beginning of my quit!!
  12. Hi Ray! I am glad you are back here deciding to quit for good! I am quitting for the 2nd and final time, because who wants to go through withdrawal symptoms again, Not me!! This is what I have been telling people who are new to quitting what worked for me in the beginning days, weeks and months of my quit. I took cinnamon sticks and would pretend that they are a cigarette. I would pretend to suck in air from the stick and then make believe I am blowing it out. It really does help and it also tastes great. If you don't like cinnamon, you can use cut up straws. The 2nd thing that I have been telling people to do is stay close to this board and I am positive that every other person on here will agree with me. Vent whenever you want/need to, the more you talk about it, the more it will help you. We have people on here from all over the world so you are bound to catch someone on at all times. Do the daily Nope pledge every single day. I am quit almost 2 years and I still do it and will continue to do it, as I believe it keeps me focused. Stay close to this site for at least 3-6 months, I come on here most every day which has helped me so much. Ohh and btw, we will never get annoyed at you! We are here to support you and be proud of you with each milestone you achieve. Please don't ever think we are annoyed. In the beginning of my quit, probably up to almost a year, I would complain A LOT, especially in those beginning days and weeks. The longer you stay quit, the easier it becomes. Just don't pick up a cigarette, just don't!! Distract yourself, go for a walk, read a book, watch TV, call a friend! Anything but smoke! Good luck to you and I look forward to seeing you on here a lot!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
