Exchanging addictions
Kate, I, too, am 70, and I wouldn’t try it. And, yes, they had skateboards 50 years ago. I twisted my ankle back then, trying to learn on my little brother’s. If you want exercise, get a treadmill. That’s what I just did. I just may start running competitively again, like I was 5 years ago. I was running 5 k’s and placing in top 3 in my age group. Good for the body and the mind.

Thinking about life
You deserve to treat yourself today, @Opah. Just get back on the diet horse tomorrow. As for pizza, NJ/ Philly style “tomato pie” is the best. Brooklyn style pizza is my second favorite.

Damm virus
This Covid Delta variant is really scary. The virus has managed to mutate enough to survive the vaccine. Many fully vaccinated people are now contracting the virus, and becoming sick with it. Some vaccinated folks have even died, as evidenced by @jillar’s post above. I remember them telling us, that after we are fully vaccinated, we could still get it, but would likely be asymptomatic, and probably would not have enough of a viral load to transmit it to others. Apparently, the virus is smarter than the experts. If one contracts the Delta variant, it’s way more transmissible than the original virus, and results in a much higher viral load than the initial Covid virus. I, for one, am going to stay in, as much as possible, and wear an N-95 mask, whenever I go anywhere, where there are people, inside, or out. As a medical professional, I would urge all of my fellow quitters to do the same. We are an especially vulnerable group, since most of us smoked for many years. I guarantee you, while our lung function has improved, since we quit smoking, our lungs are not as good as new. So, please be vigilant! Mask up, employ social distance, use your hand sanitizer. Stay safe, everyone.

Daily exercise log for everyone :)
Just did 25 laps in the climbing heat. 30 minutes of moderate cardio today. I know when not to push too hard. I AM an old broad, after all….😂😂 Looking forward to having my treadmill assembled on Monday. I even got new running shoes, so I won’t soil it with my street shoes. My boyfriend thought that was bonkers. 😂I am looking forward to using the IFit software, that is part of the deal. There is a vast library of recorded workouts with trainers, and even live classes I can join. Membership is free for a full year, so that’s a nice perk. The unit has a nice fan, and is Bluetooth enabled, so I can synchronize my iTunes library. The unit has its own built in 7 inch touch screen, or I can use my iPad. The 3.0 HP commercial grade motor should be more than strong enough for my intended use. Max speed is 12 mi/hr., and max incline is 12 %, both pretty standard, throughout the industry. No decline, but I didn’t think I’d use it, if it had it. The deck has some flex to it, to relieve stress on joints. I can turn off the flex cushioning, to simulate street running, should I so choose. I think I found the right machine for me. I paid $1,000.00 for it, on sale, and an extra $80.00, for assembly. Well worth the price, for its specs. I am excited. I will let you know how my first indoor workout goes, on Monday evening. 😀
