  1. I think I can speak for us all when I say, asking for help is not putting any of us out. It is the goal and mission of this group to help people put down cigarettes, for good. Personally, I lost a 6 year quit, probably because I did it all alone, without seeking support. Don’t give up hope! Just start all over again. We are all here for you, and don’t feel like you are wasting our time. in the least.
  2. My kids would have no part of a photo with the Easter Bunny! I didn’t force it. Photos with Santa, on the other hand, were mandatory!
  3. Sticking with my regimen: 2 twenty minute brisk walks per day. Being retired, it is easy to to just become a slug. When I was smoking, I was always outside, enjoying the beautiful northern CA weather. So, making a commitment to get outside, for at least 40 minutes per day, is good for me. Yeastetday, I did one of my walks in a beautiful County park. I was amazed at the amount of people there, and …..no masks! It felt like freedom, in more ways than one.
  4. Hi, Linda. Just keep hanging here and calling on us for help, when you need it. I realize I have stayed very close, since joining, and posted daily. It helps talking to people who have, or are now undergoing the same struggles. So, stay close. It’s what helps me not smoke.
  5. Wouldn’t it be marvelous if everyone could say that?!
  6. Way to go, RnJ! I am so proud of you for picking today and following through. I think picking the Lord’s Day was brilliant! It’s a powerful Day for a time when you need strength. Stay close to the group. We are all here for you.
  7. I like Starbucks blonde roast or their Pike blend. I am not yet a connoisseur. I just like good strong coffee. My son gets his beans At Costco.
  8. Welcome aboard, Linda. I quit 12 days ago, so we are almost twins. LOL This is a great place to hang, if you want to keep your quit. Stick around, and enjoy the ride. I am proud of you and happy you found us.
  9. I believe we all have angels watching over us. In my case, I like to think that it is my great great Aunt Ellen, or Aunty, as we knew her. Aunty came here from Ireland as a teenager, and the desire of her heart was to be a nun. But God had other plans for her. Her sister and brother- in- law, who had 5 children, died within months of each other. So, she gave up her dream of serving God, and took on the responsibility of raising their children. When my grandmother (one of those children) grew up, and gave birth to my Dad, long after his father abandoned her, Aunty helped raise him, too. My Dad credited her with teaching him to be a good man. My Dad gave me her name, as my middle name, so I am Kathleen Ellen. Aunty lived to be near 90. I remember visiting with her, as a girl. She gave me my first set of Rosary beads. So, I have always thought that it is Aunty, who is my Guardian Angel, who watches over me, from Above.
  10. My brother-in- law was tethered to oxygen for several years before he passed away. My sister claimed that he suffered from some weird pulmonary condition, that he inherited from his father. But what I remember is him smoking for years, as did his father. So, was there really a strange lung disease, or was it his nicotine addiction that took his life? I should add here, that my sister is known for spinning tall tales.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
