  3. I started working 7 days a week at age 12 (paperboy) and haven't stopped. Army (missiles in Germany) was 24/7, on call every third day, guard duty every other weekend. Now my shift changes every week, 7 days in a row each time I start, different days off each time. 24 years here. because I started young, at least 8 more years to go. So 34 years of working weekends, holidays and whenever everyone else is sleeping. Good thing is when I am off, everyone else is working so no lines at WALMART. So number 1 is I am always working it feels like. #2- I like making people nervous by following them for no reason. (Just kidding, I make one up!)
  4. At a casino horse track to watch Belmont stakes Wife picks by name and picked California Chrome for Kentucky derby before we knew it was a favorite. So first day this week chemo isn't kicking her ass and got her out of house. First time here and we found non smoking section. Amazed at the puffers. At the doors. Sitting at machines betting. Walking outside. Think every smoker in area is here and do they look bad. Not a pretty one in bunch. Old wrinkled smelly bad clothes and breath. Gray looking. Skin hanging. No smiles. Cross over the rainbow and non smokers are laughing an enjoying a cocktail. Dressed up and smiling. It's like two different places under one roof. Slight smell in air until I walked through smoking section. Very strong stink

  13. what will work? ask yourself if need be.. what do you need to quit, what is the hold up or thing that causes you not to believe you can or is pushing you towards it, smoking work place, boredom, lack of what? Carry a tank of o2 around for a day maybe? not to scare you but to see how its going to match your wardrobe later. Or carry a dog turd around...see how bad it smells Or eat plain food for week, cant taste anyways when smoking lots of other reasons to quit besides cancer...

  19. Keep marching
  20. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you." — Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower's message to the troops before the invasion, 1944
  21. Come stay with me this week. You can watch chemo in action and I can step on your throat whenever you light up. Your not occasional if it's even once a day. Your torturing yourself at constant withdrawal and waiting out to the fix long periods. I smoked one a day for three months one time and still never quit.
  22. All normal. It will pass. Your doing fine. Go reward yourself for what you have accomplished already. I always tell people to buy a treat for each day the first two weeks. Anything you normally would pass on. A magazine a book a hair brush. Something you want to reward yourself for the work you put in. Have to treat yourself because it's hard the first week

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
